what do you think, what band/s will define the progression
in IDM (ae, afx, skam crew, or someone 4th...)?

i don't know if we can expect much more from afx(i mean: not
sure if he will release much more new music in the future),
i think ae will be more active in IDM in the future..
..maybe afx started it..and ae takes it from here

maybe i'm wrong

I think on the one hand it will be AE and other big Warp
artists (BoC, Afx, Sqp) but on the other there will be next
Generation that grew up with this music and they will take
it further. I hope.

Apart from AFX and AE, and maybe some other artists, I think
you cant tell what will happen next.
Maybe some newcomers with a fresh idea?
I dont want to predict too much, lets just see what happens.

Alvin Stardust's collaboration with Aphex Twin will be the
biggest IDM event of 2003. Mark my words.

i think stockhausen will finally claim his fame by entering
the idm world with a 10 record set box called "Kennen Sie
Karlheinz?"

I wish I knew enough to be able to make a list longer than a
not very long thing.
Remeber Roni size said once -I wish I could discover a new
type of music, what I took this to mean at the time was that
well like beethoven said when he went deef I'll hear my
muisc in heaven.

"ill hear my music in heaven"

wow, thats so depressing.

anyways... i dont think anyone can predict where music will
go... or else they go out and do it!

it just happens. and itll be what we least suspect.

just when you think youve heard it all, some one comes and
reinvents everything.

and while i think the big names of IDM will still be
around... i believe the newcomers will be the ones that take
it to the next level.

AFX, Autechre etc will be the classic IDM artists, and the
new people will be the ones really pushing the boundries of
music.

Just dont know when all this will happen... :)

I'm definitive on that subject if there is another
revolution to come to idm it will come in a way no one will
see come and by someone no one as yet heard of. It is very
dificult for an artist only to redefine his style in music
is even much more difficult to revolutionize the genre he's
evolving in. Work and evolution can make an artist blossom
only raw talent and true inovation can renew a genre .

future electronic music possibilities are unique in history,
never before have the boundries of sound limitations been so
vast, and someday technology will make the boundries
disappear and the only limits will truly be the imagination
of the artist.

young cex has got his shit straight.

he's technically tight at laying moods, and he puts a good
bit of soulkick back in the mix.

well, keep in mind that stylised "IDM" has only been around
mabey 3 years. I'm taking when someones say check out this
new IDM aritist you know it's gonna sound like proem,
prefuse73 or brothomstates. personaly i think autechre is
so far ahead of the pack that nobody will ever catch up. i
mean your typical IDM albumn sounds like chiastic slide if
that. i've yet to hear anything else like confield or
LP5. i mean I love all the lesser IDM music it's not
incredibly innovative, but it's a very new genre. what do
you guys think?

there is the future of the studio, and the future of the
performance
i would imagine that the transgression of 'intelligence'
would include the further integration of other medias.

as much the technical complexities of some sounds now are
endlessly fascinating, i'm over being at a show where some
boob is up there twiddling knobs and moving his mouse around
while everyone stands around globbering. it's dj worship
without the glam, so its even worse.
if you're playing your digital tracks and adding a few efx
over it, then you may as well prep it before you show, and
then get in with the mix during the slot. cylob did
something like that--his sets are a blast to see. vibert's
fun on the turntables. and 606 had all the kid's going
nuts.
anyone else feeling me?
it's different when you're at home, or doing something where
you want to be expanded. but when you can get some glitch
with some groove in there, that makes you think and move at
the same time.
the visuals and interactives extraneus to the music should
come along.
any of you been to any shows that had you going all-around?

yes it's true

dj shadow was one the greatest shows i've ever seen...
