Sometimes they call it Naive electronica. I'm referring to Múm style, together with maybe Telefon Tel Aviv and Fridge and Four Tet etc.
Can you mention any more related artists/albums with similar style/tone?
I would also put Monolake - Cinemascope in the same category.

I've heard Telefon Tel Aviv compared to BoC, I DLed some of their tracks the other day and I can't say I agree. Not only do I not particularly like the tracks, but they seem quite dissimilair to BoC.

naive?
fuck that.
to me, that has a negative connotation.
Telefon Tel Aviv is far from naive musically. Beautiful melodies and atmospheres, and intricate programming.
seriously. naive is a crap name. where did you hear it?

from a site on the web:
"Naive artists are self-taught artists or artists who imitate the self-taught. Their fresh, uncluttered style is characterized by vibrant colours, definite shapes, and non-scientific perspective. The child-like renderings are particularly effective for stories told from the child's point of view."
So I was unaware of this genre, but I still stand by my statement that Telefon Tel Aviv is not naive. Infact, this helps my case. Listen to TTA, they have very structured beautiful melodies/harmonies. They dont fit this description at all imo.
I dont know if they are self taught or not. So how can we assume?
But if this is the case... almost all IDM is Naive art, because the majority of people who make it are self taught.
And I still think its a negative connotation. Its undermining the artists art. Whos to say whats naive and whats not?
