Can anybody think of some? I forgot them...I'm talking about where the lead character dies type endings, not edge-of-your-seat-want-to-know-what-happens-next endings.
I can only think of American Beauty...

Jesus, I've watched more half-movies than complete ones...don't ask why. I've seen small bits of Unbreakable, Jackson's hairdo prevented me from taking it seriously.

Yes definaly unbreakable..... or any of the movies that end with the lead charecture waking up and saying....
"WHOA!, thank goodness that was just a dream"
I think the movie with the most ridiculous ending would have to be Meet the Deadles"
god that movie was just all around awful I dont know why I let my sister convince me to go see it with her.....
if you want to see a seriously stupidly funny because its so bad movie go see meet the deadles
or carnosaur (I, II or II)

American Beauty wanted so desperately to be Deep and Meaningful that it fooled a goodly number of people into thinking that it was. Which is the next best thing I guess.

The funny thing is, I enjoyed it immensely as I was watching it... then as we were heading home I got angrier and angrier ranting at what a crock of shit it was under the surface. When it won academy awards steam poured from my ears and I wept blood.

i'm not an american beauty hater, it was an entertaining and original movie. i saw it before all the hype so maybe i have a different view from other peepz. spacey was amazing and i liked the ending....didn't seem contrived at all.

a bad ending is the one in "Eyes Wide Shut", stanley kubricks' last movie. the last sentence is just pathetic. i hate it. it ruins the whole movie.

Heh, different strokes for different folks. I loved Eyes Wide Shut so much that the lackluster last line was pretty much irrelevant. I could watch it over and over again just for the lighting. It was absolute candy.
I also like the fact that it didn't pretend to have easy answers to the questions it was asking about sexuality, guilt, desire and that. Kubrick movies have the endearing quality of not being slogany greeting cards that tie up everything in a neat little package.

oh god American Beauty.. I agree with fleetmouse.. trying very hard to be deep.. you can hear the screenwriter thinking: "ooh, we have this surly kid, must make him deep, I KNOW! I'll let him film things that he thinks are beautiful.. but what? what could it be..? I KNOW! a plastic bag.. that feels, ehm, kind of profound, in a way.."
how can people buy that?
I do agree though that Spacey was very good in it. the thing I really disliked about Am.Be. is that here we have a girl who says shes fucked a lot of men, she's sexually ferocious, but NOOOO she's a good little girl after all..
and LeCoeur, I have to disagree with you. this film is NOT original.

well I see what they're trying to say, but at the same time, it felt like a cop-out. there ARE lots of girls who talk like that and have also DONE those things.
it just feels like a hollywood-sugarcoating - the girl says she's all promiscuous, but phew! no, she's a virgin.
