Problems with writing music...

Or at least finishing albums. I have about three or four
albums worth of material all in minute to two minute long
flp's. I need to figure out what to cut out so I can finish
developing the material so that it flows as an album, but I
want to use most of what I have. I don't want to make it
longer than 60 minutes. Anyone have problems like this? what
did you do?

it took me 2 years to finish my album... its had about 3
completely differant tracklistings in that time... and even
still i wanna keep working on it...

i say choose your 10-15 favorite songs and wok from there...
you gotta things down even if its painful to see certain
songs not in the tracklist...

once narrowed down a bit more, then i reckon you should do
the tracklist... i find that making the album is a lot
fucking harder than writing songs..

..and then theres the artwork...

Heh I've been trying to write an album but by the time I've
done all the tracks, I'm bored with the first few so I bump
'em off and write more, and then I'm sick of the next oldest
songs on there so I bump 'em off and write more etc etc
etc....

I think I've been writing Snap Freeze Selection for about 3
years now haha.

But I say fuck it I'm not an albums person. I just write
fucking music, someone else can organize it all hehe (all
the CDs I burn are "od tracks (date)").

I'm so boooooooring.

As for your problem, yeah just choose your personal fave
ones. Don't even consider what other people would think
abotu it.
As for flowing liek an album, I don't knwo what the fuck
this is. I've been told my cds do this but I was pretty sure
I just stuck tghe songs on semi-randomly.

Mix the styles ie open with a real D opener kinda song, liek
a big song, or a real good one, then go for somethin real
fast, then somethign slower and bumpy, then an ambientish
one, then something soaring high and fast and then a really
gritty acid one and then some knid of funky one, you know
kind of make it so the styles don't really obviously clash

ie drill n bass noise stuff and then beautiful and ambient
and then more noise and then more playful ambient.

unless youre doing some kind of themed album hehe.
or trying tr fuck with someone.

See, I believe that an artist/musician is to be held
accountable by their audience due to the fact that
environment influences art drastically. I don't want to pick
my favorite trax, because I know they are the ones people
will like least.

a lot of people have heard my album now and noone ever says
they like the tracks i like... its always the ones you
wouldnt expect... i keep getting praise for this one track
that i really cant even sit through anymore... its odd like
that

i dunno, i just think that i will always release my fave
songs, coz theyre the ones I believe in, and if i wanted to
bend to the audience's will, then i'd be writing pop music.

dude, i can totally see where youre coming from though

I'm having a similar problem with writing a single song: It
starts out fine but after about two minutes I run out of
ideas and have to start on another song... I have about
fifty two minute long songs (unfinished) and another fifty
who I forced myself to finish wich are terible after the
first two minutes. :/

I have a problem thats been buggin me for a while.
I made this huge long mix. Instead of putting it on tape i
wanted to record it on my comp so i could burn it. I chopped
it up to make tracks, and when i burned it I got breaks of
silence between them on the burn that fuct up the whole
flow.

how can i eliminate the space between the tracks, or at
least how do you make a continous mix with tracks?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Steve McQueen - I don't I'm pretty lazy about the whole
thing. Music being fun is my whole deal, which is why I
don't really ever end up spending over 4 days on a song.

BB - It's not a talent - it's just practise! Get cracking,
dude! It'll take you a few years tho (rough idea - I've been
going for about 5 years now) to do stuff you're happy with.
Unless you're clever. I am not. I reinventede the wheel and
taught myself everythign I know. So yeah. Uhh what was I
saying? Oh yeah give it a shot and stick with it, anyone can
do it, and it's tons of fun, man, c'mon! JOOOOOOOIN US!!

I use adaptec cd creator, and in the final step before the
burning process, make sure you have "close disc at once"
sellected.
