For my Production Analysis Final/Final Project, we have to analyse the technical production, lyrics, song form etc of a song.
He had a preselected list of songs, and he randomly gave them out to the class.
She shuffled it, and handed em out.
I got the only electronic song out of all of em... Bjork- Yoga.
I am happy. :)

"Joga"
all the accidents that happen follow the dot confidence makes sense only with you you don't have to speak i feel emotional landscapes they puzzle me
then the riddle gets solved and you push me up to this:
...state of emergency... ...how beatuiful to be!... ...state of emergency... ...is where i want to be...
all that no-one sees you see what's inside of me every nerve that hurts you heal deep inside of me you don't have to speak - i feel emotional landscapes they puzzle me confuse
then the riddle gets solved and you push me up to this:
...state of emergency... ...how beatuiful to be!... ...state of emergency... ...is where i want to be...
...state of emergency...
...state of emergency...

p.s. "yoga" is a song she did w/ tricky on the nearly god album. it's different from joga, which i think you meant (judging by the title).
maybe you'll come away from this project liking bjork. it's such a pity you don't because she's such a good lyricist, singer, musician, producer, and star. joga's one of my fave songs by her but it's tied with prolly 10 others for "#1".

100s of people have done bjork remixes, she knows everybody. basically the only rule is she has to like and/or respect the remixer to put out a remix they did of her song(s). it doesn't matter if the song isn't "meant" to be like that or if the listener might be put off. bjork's very daring which is definitely one of her endearing qualities.
i'd hardly call bjork "mainstream" no matter how many millions of people know her. are you on crack or do you really see no difference between bjork and britney spears, or to be more serious (and fair), madonna? i think you're a bit biased for whatever reason.
yes, joga is on homogenic.

come come now. i did not call her maddonna or britney spears. but i would definatly say she is mainstream. and by mainstream, i mean widely known. not nessasarilly in a bad connotation. Beatles are mainstream, but not in a bad way. once again, i guess just different definitions of a word...
And as far as the remix, i wasnt so concerned with why she picked him, but why he agreed.
and i think you still didnt get my point in the thread talking about electronic music and people playing it live: "if the song isnt "meant." i wasnt talking about remixes or covers in that thread. i guess its too hard to explain in words what i was getting at, cause obviously i couldnt get my point across. so yeah, remixes and covers dont have to be what the song is "meant" to be like. i know this. give me some credit.
lets clam down. you seem to get so defensive so quickly!

how about the connotation of mainstream as sounding like what most people listen to? that's the definition i act on, whether or not it's the proper meaning.
as for alec, why wouldn't he accept? it's not like bjork's madonna, as you just admitted. tons of ppl have remixed bjork, and you know what? tons more respect, admire, and like her.

ok. whatever. lets not get all bent out of shape over a word.
as for alec not accepting. I dont know. it just doesnt seem to fit his character. he is all anti everything, (no need to elaborate, you know all his work). and a girl singing love songs, that are poppy electronica (sorry if i missused any of these words)... just doesnt seem to fit.
and dude, I KNOW PEOPLE RESPECT< ADMIRE AND LIKE HER.
its only a personal preference of mine. She doesnt do much for me. I dont hate her. I dont love her.
STOPPPPPP getting so defensive, and offended. Maybe its just me, but your posts always seem to be really defensive, like ive offended you. you always seem mad at me.

when it comes to artists i've grown up with and have never done anything to cause me lose my respect, awe, and admiration, i get defensive. you would too if someone made such unsubstantiated (insulting) claims like bjork's music is "a girl singing
love songs, that are poppy electronica." that's like a slap in the face, and you've said worse still. i get offended by your posts cos unlike most people on here, you don't know when not to say anything. you could easily stay objective but you choose to offer your malformed and highly biased opinions on artists whose music you've barely been exposed to. if someone's taken the time and mental effort to really listen to bjork's music and still dislikes it, i can live with that. but it's unfuriating how you can be so judgemental over artists (or genres, re: hip-hop) you've barely lent your time and mental effort to.

ok, fuck this. im not gonna be dragged into this shit again.
You need to not take things so seriously man.
im not even gonna try and explain myself, cause you just dont want to hear it.
Im sorry for insulting your girlfriend (although I still stand by my argument that I didnt) and its too bad you seem to hold this grudge against me in all of your replies.
Youve made up your mind about me, which is also a very uninformed and highly biased thing to do.
If every discussion we ever have is goin to end this way, im goin to kindly ask you, from now on, dont respond to any thread i post, and ill do the same.
Its really just pointless the debates we have.
and for the record, my best friend loves bjork, and for the past 5 years, ive always listened to him playing her cds. i dont know details about her, but I do know that I dont really dig her. Ive have given her 5 years of chance, and have 3 albums of hers, that i listened to, and gave them a chance. and i still am not crazy about em.
goodnight
im goin to bed

i typically don't respond to your posts or write in your threads but sometimes i do. i'm not promising anything, so we'll see what i write to you in the future. i'm glad you're as annoyed at my some of my posts as i am by some of yours, although annoyance, believe it or not, is never actually planned when i write. i really am speaking my mind, but like in all interactions, biases do take their toll. it's not like i like or dislike you (if i did, i wouldn't bother talking to you).

the fact is that bjork is certainly a way for some electronic artists or group to emerge, even if they don't become mainstream or something like that...in this way she has put out lots of interesting names, not only through remixes but also with live performances including talvin singh, leila, plaid and matmos

From Kerrang!.com:
Guitarist planning Bjork tribute album
New Found Glory guitarist Chad Gilbert is to record a version of Bjork's 'Joga' as part of a tribute album. Gilbert is currently compiling an album with hardcore and punk bands offering their interpretations of the Icelandic experimental music star.
Says Gilbert: "I'm a really big fan, since I was young. A lot of people in punk rock and hardcore really respect what she does. There'll be a lot of bands on the tribute. I think it would be good to introduce her to punk kids who might not have really heard her music. There's some really heavy bands, metal bands. Bjork fans will probably not like the bands playing her music. But its not for them. There's a couple of rather popular British bands who are going to do it, but I can't say who at the moment, just in case it doesn't happen. I'm going to do 'Yoga'. It'll be cool."
The album is expected next year, but a release date and label have not yet been finalised. You can read the full interview in the Kerrang! Yearbook 2002, on sale now priced £4.99.

yes i have that one, got it on vhs but it's now available on dvd. i luv it. if you like post era bjork then i recomend you get it. all i can say is passion :)
some people are saying roh is their favorite of the live bjork videos so don't take my word as final i guess. i get the same impression watching the video as i did seeing her live, that the vespertine songs don't really fit her live performance style. they're all alone and "under the kitchen table" like, as she has described it. she seems to be holding back, where as with the the shepherd bush show she can't seem to slow down.
