In need of great ambience...

This Christmas I'm planning to get an ambient album. I'm
new to the genre but Brian Eno, Aphex etc seem to be the
go.

Any recommendations? BTW, I don't really want stuff too
disturbing, just beautifully melancholy =D

A lot of Coil's mellower stuff is great ambient. Musick to
Play in the Dark is great to play... erm, in the dark...

earthrise, n.tone is a 2 disc solid chunk of ambience, and
generally one of the best sequenced compilations i've come
across.
i know there's actually a couple of these, and i'm not sure
which album i've got.
