first of all, it was very good (lynch never seems to fail)

second of all, it must be _the_ most sampled movie ever! now
i know where all that came from

What version did you see? The theatrical release was two
hours or less but there were hours more of footage...

The 1927 silent original kicked Lynch's ass imho

Dune is great movie, despite what anyone say, its a bit
confusing if you havent read the books, BUT why better than
the 2001 TV Remake

If you haven't done so yet, get Frank Hebert's original
novel, set some time aside and read it. It's FAR superior
to the movie...

dune fell apart at the end, though...the way they edited it
anyway.

Lynch had to edit all kinds of stuff out so the story kind
of falls apart..

what I really disliked about the film were the voice-overs..
I know, they appear frequently in the book too.. but
unnecessary v.o. are the death of a film.

oh and the music by Toto.. *shudders*

I remember from interviews that Lynch was really interested
in the navigators, the alien hybrids that steer the
spaceships, but he couldn't use the material or something..

that's funny... it is a joke right?

both cinematic versions of dune were so boring after having
read that book. it's very rich, stories within stories
implied throughout--i'm sure these are touched on in later
books, i never finished the third. reading dune felt as if
i was reading a prophetic channeling. then again, maybe all
stories are.
