yep! a new album by "U.N.K.L.E." comes out next year w/
vocals from the singer of queens of the stone age on several
songs.

dj shadow is NOT involved. it's back to james lavelle again.

I really like this album, especially Celestial Annihilation.
If I were a b-boy, I'd break to that track.

I indeed thought that UNKLE was shadow and lavelle, so if
shadow is out then how come it will keep the name of UNKLE?

lavelle is just a producer, sets up the ideas and concepts.
Shadow does most of the musical dirty work. Without him, I
don't see how this album could possibly work.

U.N.K.L.E. started out as james lavelle and collaborators

dj shadow worked on the album 'psyence fiction' and the
accompanying singles

that is all. he did none of the ep's or remixes before that
album and has not been involved SINCE the album.

offline CORTEX from Canada on 2002-11-18 21:00 [#00447366]

yeah, it's kind of disappointing dj shadow wont participate,
but im sure lavelle can pull it off.

like titsworth said, psyence fiction was made with a bunch
of collaborators, so i suppose it will be the same with the
next album.

i think psyence fiction was something like 4 years in the
making.

dj shadow felt extremely constrained by the project... he
only got to pick ONE guest (kool g rap) and although he
enjoyed the collaborations, only one artist was willing to
let their song be a single -- mr. thom "the [supposed]
prick" yorke.

PF was 4-5 years in the making, yep

Well, before Lavelle got shadow in, Tim Goldsworthy was part
of UNKLE and now he has a guy called Richard F in. I don't
think Lavelle does fuck all; just rides on the backs of
others.

The Cream mix CD he was paid to do some years ago was
actually mixed by the Psychonauts. Dick.

i think james lavelle's been involved in some remixes but
you're right, he's not really a musician

If someone told you to listen to this album called Psyence
Fiction then said its by unkle, you would eventually say it
sounds a bit like shadow or something. I don't think anyone
would say "ohh that's james lavelle for sure"...(oh and
drums of death I/II and lonely soul have gotta be the best
tracks imo)

I'm guessing this new album is going to be nothing like
Psyence Fiction with Shadow on board. Not looking forward to
it in that respect.

after dj shadow's latest album im glad he wont ruin - err
work - on the new unkle

but james lavelle doesnt impress me much either...

psy fic was a nice LP though

I liked it, it certainly made an impression on me when I
first heard it... but it kind of seemed a bit empty on
further listens. I think i'm being over critical but it was
a bit style over content I thought. But don't mind me, i'm
very picky.
