Wonderful track. Has a unique, deeply-textured tone that
the others really don't get into...

The only two places that track can be found in on the
original SAW II vinyl and "Excursions in Ambience: The
Third Dimension". Both are OOP, BTW...

Happy hunting...:)

lichen remains the best on the album for me though, closely
followed by this, z twig, and hexagon

it makes time stop for 10 minutes

err.. that doesnt really make sense does it..

but yeah.. thats what ambient music is supposed to do

oh it makes perfect sense.
takes me back to younger days. when i first heard this track
ten minutes stretched into what seemed like an eternity.
gorgeous.

offline DaWeeze from WANTED IN 16 STATES! on 2002-11-17 20:00 [#00445943]

No. That made perfect sense.

I find a lot of tracks that are super long on SAW2 don't
seem long... they could be 60 minutes and I wouldn't get
bored.

offline wayout from the street of crocodiles on 2002-11-17 20:34 [#00445963]

i know..but the idea of time stopping for 10 minutes.. kinda
cancels itself out doesnt it?

i guess listening to a song like that is like where in
reports of alien abductions.. people say they looked at a
clock one minute..and then looked again what seemed like a
few minutes later..and noticed it was a few hours later..
indicating a period of missing time..

the overall simplicity of the song, what is it, like three
chords? probably plays a major role in the distortion.
its just a sloooow song, but its very enjoyable. i always
picture something epic when i hear it, glaciers moving,
continents dividing.
it would be cool if a video were made that simply showed a
large stone on some windswept hill for ten minutes.

Rhubarb might be the best music I've ever heard... I could
put it on repeat at 8PM, and 10 minutes later, it's
midnight.

im listening to brian eno's '1/2' from music for airports
right now..
i think it has to be one of the most gorgeous pieces of
music ever made..
it would be perfect as the background music for a really
melancholic movie

it stops time for 12 minutes and 5 seconds

its a little over 12 minutes long..

offline wayout from the street of crocodiles on 2002-11-17 21:32 [#00446017]

I think it kinda works differently than most music, you have
to kinda not listen to it (if that makes sense..)...Ambient
is about creating subtle atmospheres - I don't like the
phrase "Background Music" as it conjures up images of awful
newage bollocks, but it applies here in a way...

for instance, I love drawing or painting to SAWII...whereas
other music kinda requires too much attention or disturbs
your concentration...

Don't you ever get that zoned-out feeling when concentrating
fully on something?...kinda like meditation...

Learning to still your mind & quiet all the noise is a good
skill to deveop...(hehe..I sound like such a hippy...)..
