S.O.S.

Ok, first let me get this straight.

Bush, I don't mind him, I actually am glad we got someone
with BALLS to get some real work done, instead of sitting on
all this technology waiting for something to happen to us.

All you people out there who hate him (including me at
times), well, he IS your President, and sometimes you just
have to follow that.

My prime example is the show (now cancelled i beleive) on
Comedy Central called "That's My Bush" where they just mock
the Pres. all throughout the show.

Kthx,,,I'd like to see you try doing that in Cuba.

Where else could the people watch a TV show ripping on the
stupidity of their very own President.

Fucking pop culture, some people take things too far I
feel.

Bush this Bush that.

STFU, 1/2 of you voted him in. You're fault (oh wait,
you're prolly one of those people who "don't vote because
their 1 single vote doesn't matter."

kthxagain...next please.

Get the fuck out then.
Bush is our leader, and we should treat him with some
respect.

I'd like to see you mock your leader in another country, but
then again we are "free" so that's USA-AOK.....Sigh,

All Americans seem to do is complain now. If it's not one
thing, it's another.

Sorry, it's kinda hard pleasing 250million people, you must
be qualified to do a better job.

Feast.....

yeah, I agree with you, but I also love Amendment #1.

I do feel that if people are so pissed off at the country,
they should feel free to leave. Would fucking reduce
traffic too.

I love this country, but I don't like the idea of one party
controlling the house/senate/oval office.

soooooo, you take your lumps: I don't mind bush at all, he
doesn't speak well, but like you said, pleasing 275 million
people is hard.

theres a small thing called checks and balances that is
supposed to ensure balance of power in this country. that
balance has been disrupted with this recent election. i see

We won't get into politics and war cause that will lead down
the drain, so I won't even go there.

Point being, you (we) voted him in.

Nuff said.
Even though I may not feel the greatest for my pres, he IS
my Pres, and I will follow him.

Some people live out where politics will never touch them,
so it is easy to make discriminating factors upon things and
ideas.

part of the beauty of america is that we can reject those
who would seek to run our country. we do this through public
speaking or writing or demostrations, so i have no problem
with someone saying they hate bush. i hate bush. i didn't
vote for him. i'm seventeen, couldn't have voted if i tried.
this country is supposedly based upon a social contract that
states that if we are unhappy with a ruler, we have the
right to speak out against him. thats all these people are
doing, no reason to kick them out of the country.

firstly, I'm not an American, so this all outsider
perspective. I do think Bush is an arse, but I have a few
problems with your general logic..

"All you people out there who hate him (including me at

have to follow that."

why?

"Where else could the people watch a TV show ripping on
the stupidity of their very own President."

sounds okay to me. freedom of speech and all that. and
ofcourse thats what you get when you elect someone like that
;)

"Bush is our leader, and we should treat him with some
respect."

you deserve a prize of some sorts for that one. can you say
that out loud without shitting your pants laughing..?

Impossible - but sometimes you just have to put faith in

Can't do it? Fine, your opinion vs mine = null, void,

I see what yr saying.. whether he should or shouldn't be in
the office is debateable, but it's also a done deal. We
should support and to some extent respect him for that.
Doesn't mean we have to like him or agree with him.. but we
should still be supportive. Maybe you think he's an
asshole, alot of people do. I'm not a big fan myself.
Still, unless he muffs up completely and becomees obviously
corrupt, I think Americans should put aside their grudges
and make the best of what they've got. So vote for 'Gore in
4' as they say.. but make the best of what happened, whether
you like Bush or not.

Agreed.. protest and peristence is displaying
dissatisfaction is a more than valid means of righting
wrongs.. I was more addressing the pointless and
non-constructive bitching that goes on and on and tears down
the president without actually helping anyone out. Nothing
wrong with catharsis either.. like i said I am not Bush's
biggest supporter either. It's just when there's no attempt
to make things better or show any measly hint of
'patriotism' or support that it gets old and gratuitous.

Dead Kennedys - Stars And Stripes of Corruption

Finally got to Washington in the middle of the night
I couldn't wait
I headed straight for the Capitol Mall
My heart began to pound
Yahoo! It really exists
The American International Pictures logo

I looked up at that Capitol Building
Couldn't help but wonder why
I felt like saying "Hello, old friend"

Walked up the hill to touch it
Then I unzipped my pants
And pissed on it when nobody was looking

Like a great eternal Klansman
With his two flashing red eyes
Turn around he's always watching
The Washington monument pricks the sky
With flags like pubic hair ringed 'round the bottom

The symbols of our heritage
Lit up proudly in the night
Somehow fits to see the homeless people
Passed out on the lawn

So this is where it happens
The power games and bribes
All lobbying for a piece of ass

Of the stars and stripes of corruption
Makes me feel so ashamed
To be an American
When we're too stuck up to learn from our mistakes
Trying to start another Viet Nam
Whilke fiddling while Rome burns at home
The Boss says, "You're laid off. Blame the Japanese"
"America's back," alright
At the game it plays the worst
Strip mining the world like a slave plantation

No wonder others hate us
And the Hitlers we handpick
To bleed their people dry
For our evil empire

The drug we're fed
To make us like it
Is God and country with a band

People we know who should know better
Howl, "America riles. Let's go to war!"
Business scams are what's worth dying for

Are the Soviets our worst enemy?
We're destroying ourselves instead
Who cares about our civil rights
As long as I get paid?

The blind Me-Generation
Doesn't care if life's a lie

so easily used, so proud to enforce

The stars and stripes of corruption
Let's bring it all down!
Tell me who's the real patriots
The Archie Bunker slobs waving flags?
Or the people with the guts to work
For some real change
Rednecks and bombs

offline BILE from São Paulo (Brazil) on 2002-11-06 23:18 [#00431346]
Points: 1769 Status: Regular

Rednecks and bombs don't make us strong
We loot the world, yet we can't even feed ourselves
Our real test of strength is caring
Not the toys of war we sell the world
Just carry on, thankful to be farmed like worms
Old glory for a blanket
As you suck on your thumbs

Real freedom scares you
'Cos it means responsibility

So you chicken out and threaten me

Saying, "Love it or leave it"
I'll get beat up if I criticize it
You say you'll fight to the death
To save your worthless flag

If you want a banana republic that bad
Why don't you go move to one
But what can just one of us do?
Against all that money and power
Trying to crush us into roaches?

We don't destroy society in a day
Until we change ourselves first
From the inside out

We can start by not lying so much
And treating other people like dirt
It's easy not to base our lives
On how much we can scam

And you know
It feels good to lift that monkey off our backs

I'm thankful I live in a place
Where I can say the things I do
Without being taken out and shot
So I'm on guard against the goons
Trying to take my rights away
We've got to rise above the need for cops and laws

Let kids learn communication
Instead of schools pushing competition
How about more art and theater instead of sports?

People will always do drugs
Let's legalize them
Crime drops when the mob can't price them
Budget's in the red?
Let's tax religion

No one will do it for us
We'll just have to fix ourselves
Honesty ain't all that hard
Just put Rambo back inside your pants
Causing trouble for the system is much more fun

Thank you for the toilet paper
But your flag is meaningless to me
Look around, we're all people
Who needs countries anyway?

Our land, I love it too
I think I love it more than you
I care enough to fight

The stars and stripes of corruption
Let's bring it all down!
If we don't try
If we just lie
If we can't find
A way to do it better than this
Who will?

cool.

I don't mean anyone here tho.

Coz I think he is actually being a bit stupid (but then
again I'm not political minded enough to really bother
taking in all the information about all this and hence don't
have enough information to build a proper opinion)

I think americans should give him the benefit of the doubt
until he proves otherwise.
I think he has probably proven otherwise, but that's only my
opinion, I don't feel too strongly about it.

I try to stay out of policial debates, as they can start
fights really easily.

oh yeah, wasn't this elusive's argument?? :) anyway..
You're a little out of my league now, I am not very familiar
with Bush's past. I'm aware that he's had a partly shady
one, though. However, what I meant was that while he's been
in office, I anyway have not heard of anything to make me
believe he's evil or overly corrupt. If he keeps running a
reasonably clean presidency and keeps making reasonable
decisions.. then I think we shouldn't hold the past against
him unless there's a serious threat of it resurfacing in a
way that would prove malevolent to the nation. When he
starts making irresposible decisions and has kinky affairs
in the oval office and starts WW3 and starts endangering the
US citizens.. then let's start bitching and protesting.
Until then, I say we live with it. elusive, you take over!

War on Terrorism...

Bin Laden being in afghanistan, okay...
But instead of sending in special units to eliminate him,
afghanistan gets partially destroyed.
Then, we realise the TRUE goal of this action, wiping out
the Taliban.
After afghanistan being demolished, the UN can once again
clear up the mess america made.

But wait, there's more!

What I seen on CNN is that america thought Bin Laden was in
IRAQ!!! What a coicidence! So the war on terrorism
continues!

Now a final thought:
I've seen a war in yugoslavia, and in iraq (on TV thank
god).
But what I also see is that the US keep trying to get in war
with IRAQ. In yugoslavia, they did nothing.
why?
OIL!
thats the whole fucking issue!
They want IRAQ to have a democratic government, read
pro-american.

have any of you 'mericans travelled much outside the states?
Seen how other cultures statirise, make-fun-of or laugh at,
their chosen governments? there is a wide and varied
spectrum of ways to do it and cheap-shot, lowest common
denominator humour is always the one to stir up shit. I've
heard some quite sophisticated radio-satire in the states on
your government that could not be argued with... MTC,
Jackass type cynicism is pure crappy and only appeals to
teens who don't know what the story is really. Try paying
attention to some intelligent fucking debates instead of
getting all annoyed at some asshole with cracker-jack jokes.

Thankfully in this part of the world we have the BBC and
here, some hilarious radio comedy, to challenge and amuse
us in times of questionable government policy. Bring it up a
notch people!
