well, its to do with conforming and also some people make
judge their own opinions on what others like.... maybe?

also, pop music is easily accessible in the media and shops.

because there is always a chance, even if it's a tiny
chance...

...or (and that's more satisfying for me) because 'right'
and 'wrong' are subjective concepts.
the same thing can be right for some people and wrong for
some other people.

But by the same logic, bush is a great leader as he was
voted in by a majority (allegedly)...

thanks to the behavior of mimicry that evolved in us
primates, billions of people can indeed be wrong.

I searched for "called it pop because" or something in the
exact phrase section of google. (and put "soda" as another
key word)

Its just like candy.
Everyone knows chocolate and likes chocolate, just because
it has this nice balanced taste, powerfull and sweet, just a
simple but tasty type of candy.
Like with music, POP is just the easy and tasty musical
snack.
Consider non-pop more like a delicacy.

and tastes do differ...

isnt it a sophism? of course the fact that everyone thinks
something doesnt make it right.

the whole world once thought the earth was flat, that it was
the center of the universe, the the gods made the rain, and
so on.

Most of the "pop" music you hear today follows a formula, a
formula that has been tried and tested to make a song catchy
and memorable. Many People who listen to top 40 stations
like the songs because they keep hearing them over and over.
They're catchy. That doesn't neceissarily mean they're
good, however.
