JOB LOSSES HAVE 'WIDER IMPACT' The loss of 600 electronics jobs at a North Lanarkshire factory will hit the area badly, industry leaders warn. Peter Hughes, of trade group Scottish Engineering, said Chunghwa Picture Tubes's Eurocentral industrial complex had been supposed to create jobs. Staff at the Mossend site will be cut from 639 to 40 or 50 due to a "downturn in the global economic market". |
