20! I'm disgusted by the state of music these days. Having to search around to find good music. I'm assuming this is an extension of the under 18 topic?

as much as I lik the idea behind this thread, its not really a poll.
So here is the question. "Do you agree that the general state of ameture musicians nowadays is pretty poor?"
Answers will only be accepted in the form of a five paragraph essay.

I think music during 94 to 96 was great, You had loads of different styles flowing around and the mainstream had some great stuff popping up. Most artists I like had their best work out during these years. Now the whole industry is seeing a low in sales. Is this due to mp3 or is it due to the fact that the same old shit keeps coming out thinner and thinner? The only way the music industry will grow again is if the record labels allow the musicians to experiment more like back in 94 and stop pumping out lame manufactured shit. Everyone tuned into the fact these bands where put together so the only way the record bosses could justify this was by making it entertainment, you can now vote who will mime to the lazy ass pop tracks they will inevitably pump out to rob children of their pocket money. So what is the next logical step when people tire of this? Time will tell. I love the underground scene at the moment, loads of choice and Rephlex keep me happy. Some of the stuff coming out independently is a bit disappointing to me as I miss the early crazy releases such as Caustic Window and Universal Indicator but things always keep moving enough to keep most happy. We also have MEN records to look forward to and if MEN01 is anything to go by then I will be hooked. Mainstream things are bad and people are waking up to the bullshit, underground is as underground was IMO.

GO SPIKEE! I agree with you on that. They love to blame everything else for low record sales not realising it's their own fault. I can't wait for the massive backlash against the companies. IT's going to happen soon. I know it. Well I'm hoping anyway.

I agree with Spikee. Good music is a little bit harder to find. You have to lift the veil of the mainstream and look under it, kinda like finding the melody in something by autechre by looking through the static noise.

i think its always been a case of looking under the carpet of popular music to find better quality stuff. in that respect, nothing has changed. at all.

It's much easier to find good music today. I eschew television and radio and am unpleasantly surprised whenever I encounter what passes for mainstream "music" lately. Ugh.
While I'm at it, fuck mainstream movies too. Fuck them all to hell. I don't even want to watch them for free on my interweb screen mechanism.
Hardest part of my day is when the female watches her Access Hollywood and wants me to sit with her and unwind. I would rather dine from the cat litter box.
Fuck civilization, fuck the media, fuck everything. Fucky fucky fuckfuck. Someday soon I'm going to pull a Thoreau--toss a lit match at the dross and dreck of my life and move to a tiny cabin to contemplate the cycles of nature.

''Over 18 only poll''... I don't know what the point of it is, either. I thought it was going to be something perverted... what a disapointment.
