however, I have toyed with the possibility that this is deliberate on his part.

a troublesome album..
kind of like it, but also feel kind of childish when listening - "yeah yeah, the worm, antichrist, blah blah blah"
do like "dirty rockstar" - is it called that?

i used to like it a few years back. but then i discovered he was doing the same thing over and over. and i started to dislike rock music because of its stupidity (just my opinion).
i hate these poor alternative rock kids who try to look like marilyn manson. if he dressed out in a pink bucket all of these kids would do it. its actually a bit amusing.

tourniquet, that song bothers me to no ends. its sort of enjoyable, but gets old. it feels, to me, like it drags on forever, even though its only 4 minutes and 29 seconds.
dried up tied up and dead to the world is probably the track that pulled me into the album.

ACS is one dope album. trent practically did it for him (well, trent and nin members chris vrenna, charlie clouser, etc.). highly recommended to any nin fan, it's kinda like a missing album? if you wonder what nin would've sounded like after TDS but before the fragile. i don't own or care to own any other manson albums, this one's good enough for me. as for manson the person, "he a smart muthafucka." he came across very intelligent and sensible in bowling for columbine (michael moore's new film). time to fuck, cya later!

I feel the same way... love the music, but I wish he'd shut his mouth sometimes, he makes me cringe more often than I'd like to...

Manson is all image as far as I'm concerned... and so no, I haven't listened to much by him, but I haven't had any desire... I bought The Fragile by NIN last year to see what all the fuss about NIN was about, and it's really not my thing... I only listened to it a few times... and those were me trying to force myself into liking an album I paid 30 bucks or so for... I really should sell that one!

yes, marilyn manson ( & the band) is quite very talented as singers/songwriters/composers/entertainers...he's pretty up there with the likes of NIN, Tool, and other good bands......
i would say ----- "Antichrist Superstar" is to "The Downward Spiral" -as- "Holy Wood" is to "The Fragile"
i enjoy both as equal.....but I must say NIN has got to be the winner there.

i would say ----- "Antichrist Superstar" is to "The Downward Spiral" -as- "Holy Wood" is to "The Fragile"
i agree for antichrist superstar and the downward spiral, but i think you're insulting the fragile by comparing it to holy wood...
or maybe that's just me. ' _ '
i listened to holy wood again (glad i have it on mp3 only) lately, and sounded like shit to me... especially compared to A?SS and MA. and his cover of tainted love is just plain horrible (please, go listen to coil's one instead!!).
i love all of NIN i listened to, except for deep. i liked aatchb very much.
for MM, antichrist superstar and mechanical animals were great but i don't really expect anything good from him again... (will check out the golden age of grotesque, in case it is good, but i doubt it.)

i think it is interesting to compare antichrist superstar to downward spiral, as they seem to be two different issues of a similar story...
on both albums, the main character feels hate against the world, is beaten down by people, etc. (very original... erm ^^), but in downward spiral he has no self control nor control of the situation, and it's all downhill from all points of view for him. maybe at the end he manages to find some sort of peace, but a very sad peace... it's not very clear, 'hurt' can be interpreted in many ways...
whereas in antichrist superstar, the character manages to get control of the world he hates in some way. what's wrong is that he doesn't control himself... and that's what will cause his (bad) ending. but the story in acss doesn't really end, it just starts over again (track 99), it's endless... (besides the acss symbol can be interpreted as 'endless fight').
i agree with the lyrics being somewhat childish (and some marilyn manson fans being so stupid, would almost disgust me from liking manson... almost), but still, there is a depth into these two albums, and many interpretations possible.
