Super Mario 64 And Such

Okay, I don't know if it's just me, but while this is a
great game, I feel as though it doesn't have that sense of
nostalgia that previous mario games had. Anything made for
the SNES does wonders for me and is not only fun but a
beautiful experience aswell. Super Mario 64 is pretty
boring, and while the graphics are great, it just doesn't
capture the same nostalgic feeling Super Mario World did. In
fact Mario Sunshine doesn't either. No new games really do
fro that matter.

Since I know alot of the forum members here are video game
fans, id like to hear your opinion!

Hmm....the controls were pretty dumb in Mario 64, and for
something to be nostalgic for me, it has to be pretty
simple. What did you think of Yoshi's Island?

Yoshi's Island is excellent, the graphics amaze me to this
day... there's soemthing about 2d graphics that are
unbeatable I'd say. And yeah, the controls in Mario 64 are
pretty ticky, as with most control systems for the 64.

Aye, could never get to grips with it up until recently, my
hands were probably too small when it first came out! (I'm
not Jeremy Beadle)

I can't remember Yoshi's Island too well, but what being
able to shoot things was fantastic.
I played through Super Mario World again recently and it
was fantastic still, even if it was much easier, but I
forgot how you get to that Rainbow Island thing, or that
star thing, where you get different coloured Yoshi's that
belch fire and can fly... can you remind me how?

You must be drunk. Super Mario 64 had excellent controls,
and the 64 games generally were excellent controls wise as
the pad is easily the best I've ever used (and bar the PC
Engine, I've tried them all). The game was perhaps lacking a
little magic - same goes for Sunshine - but it was still a
fantastic experience. Mario World is maybe still the best
but I played it on an emulator and I was shocked at how easy
it was. I'm ramblin here cause I'm so hungover it's
difficult to remain sane

The secret stage? Yeah, I do beleive you have to access it
via a key on one of the Star Road levels... took me forever
to find out how to do it, but there should be a more
detailed guide at http://www.classicgaming.com/tmk

Great game!

Mario 64 is flawless! The control is the best ever, you can
truly do anything you want with no effort. Sunshine has even
better control with that fucking backpack! I miss the long
jump, though.

I think Mario 3 may be the best ever, though... but every
Mario game is a perfect 10.

Yeah, I agree about the controls in Mario 64. That little
joystick was perfect. Best implementation of the XYZ
Axis-motion in any videogame i've played.

mario 64 is great.
the graphics are a bit too polygonized, but that's
understandable since it was at the very beginning of the
console...
it has a such a great gameplay.
one of my n64 favs, along with zelda o.o.t., goemon II, jet
force gemini, wipeout64...

i'm into super mario world again now, thanks to emulation
(my parents gave my snes to another family, i don't know if
i'll ever see it back again), and it's a masterpiece too.

only thing that's wrong with the n64 controller is the
circular grooves on the stick. not comfortable at all.

Damn straight!! Mario 3 was the first game I played all the
way through, and 64 was the second one. I can still sit and
play Mario 64 for hours on end. Great gaming right there,
my friends.

super mario 64 was great, awesome level design, control,
very challenging game, a classic i tell ye right along side
the 2ds. remember the neverending staircase at the top of
the castle it reminds me of the neverending ascending tone
in autechre's dial.

mario 64 practically invented 3d platforming. its innovative
and a masterpiece, and it contains every element that makes
the mario games great (with the exception of a ridable
Yoshi). to complain is insane.

of course nothing is better than Super Mario World. third
best game ever, behind chrono trigger and FF7.

Don't worry, the NES is probably my favourite console. I
love the music of those games, the tiny sharp edged
controllers and the old style games. They're also mostly
much harder than modern games. I've still only completed
about half of them :)

Do you have a nes? What's your favourite game?

I used to like Spy vs Spy on the Nes, and duck hunt was cool
too =oD

I used to love the Mickey Mouse game on the Game Gear too
