I'm currently making a CD Database of everything I own. The main page of this database will link to pages for each and every CD in my possession. Pages will have track listings, track lengths, and lyrics!
It'll all be pretty impressive when it's finalized. I have hundreds of 'nails bootlegs to listen to though to get the tracklistings. ;)

Oh! And I'll keep it current--everytime I get a new CD, or burn something to CD-R, it's going in the database as I listen to it!

I can't just have a list, I need all this content. See, this came about because my girlfriend wants a burn of a nails bootleg I have with reptile on it--and she'd probably like to look at all the setlists and see what her options are.
plus, I can't memorize aphex/autechre's track titles. And Coil have a million songs I can't keep straight, either. Additionally, I keep all my cases in my bookshelf in lieu of books--so it can be troublesome to rummage through those looking for tracklistings.

What a weird coincidence, I was making a Wordpad file a few hours ago with all my CDs, but I got bored quick and scrapped it.

it was a hassle for me to do the great list. it took a couple of days. and the hardest part was leaving my cassette collection out of the list.
yes, i do admit to having cassettes. about 800 or so. but i gave in and decided to collect cds exclusively about 8 years ago.

Yah--it's going to take me forever to finish it, especially since my collection is ever-growing.
I think eventually, I'll have a list of everything I own!

It's going to be a big project, but I'm really well into HTML. I've been writing code since I was 13. I type fast, too, so I'll get it done eventually. Those Nine Inch Nails bootlegs are going to hold me up forever though. :)

I'd say I have almost 700. As far as NIN, I have everything official as well as most bootlegs. Nothing unlistenable though. ANd none of the same set. Most of the fragile bootlegs, too.

All of you making databases- be sure to use a future proof format if you intend to keep them current- preferably SQL based... M$oft are moving away from the current Aaccess type stuff in the next release or so. It's likely to be based around SQL server type stuff.
You'll find it a real pain if in 2 OSes time you can't run access 97 properly and you have no way of converting your db. Sounds silly, but you'll regret it in 4/5 years time if you don't :)

Personally I've never really got into that making lists/organising things...I work with databases all day so it's the last thing I wanna do when I get home really...
plus I'm a lazy bastard...as anyone who's ever emailed me will no doubt tell ya..:)...

He he, I know what you mean. I used to be really anal about filing and listing & stuff at home, but since spending all day at it in work I'm a lot less bothered.
Generate HTML playlist in winamp is good enough for me :)
I'm still obssesive about having software working w/o bugs at home. Madly patching stuff, checking for most up to date files etc.

and the info for each cd is limited... I didn't have the patience to look for stuff on every cd... heh, I have a field for release year, and half of the fields aren't even filled in, cause I'm too lazy to look through all my cds... :)

I have mine backed up on floppy. All are priced for insurance purposes!
Will cdr's be classed the same as usual 'bought' cd's? mmm...guess so...

I though I was the only one anal enough to be doing this. I've just started work on it. Doing it in Excel first then I'll import it to Access afterwards. Will take me ages to do. I'm putting tracklisting and such like on. This is all for insurance purposes too. My CDs are taking long enough as it is . I'm dreading starting on the vinyl.
