Who or what is the worst music you've listened to, but just
can't get enough of it?

i don't understand the question

surely if you like it, it's not bad

i still enjoy listening to a lot of 80s pop music which is
(still) considered rather 'oh my god'.

howard jones, nik kershaw, dead or alive, bronski beat,
blancmange, adam & the ants, tears for fears etc

to me, they're all brilliant

offline two from Rataq (Qatar) on 2002-10-23 12:02 [#00414192]

i don't think they meant "bad", just something very cheesy
that you enjoy regardless

offline titsworth from Washington, DC (United States) on 2002-10-23 12:06 [#00414199]
Points: 14550 Status: Lurker | Followup to two: #00414192

what makes it cheesy? other people's opinions? like rza
said, "fuck what you think" (not you personally, but other
people in general). musical taste is subjective and people
shouldn't be influenced negatively by other people's
opinions on what they listen to.

I think you're just taking it too seriously to understand
the question. It's not a matter of popularity or what anyone
else thinks. Surely there's some quirky, odd band or
musician you enjoy, but at heart realize it's terrible? You
know, it's like the expression, "it's so bad, it's good."

offline titsworth from Washington, DC (United States) on 2002-10-23 13:18 [#00414258]
Points: 14550 Status: Lurker

oh i understand it quite well. the way i see it a band isn't
"terrible" if i like their music. some of my favorite bands
make quirky, odd music. i think people are copping out when
they say "it's so bad [or stupid], it's good" cos they're
just afraid to admit they like it. you don't think supposed
novelty acts realize they're weird?

offline Conformist from Powell, OH (United States) on 2002-10-23 13:20 [#00414260]
Points: 550 Status: Lurker

again, you're just looking too deeply into it. it has
nothing to do with the band members themselves. maybe you
should just find a new topic to post in? ;)

it all just boils down to this: some bands are quite weird
to people, whether they be silly songs or just poorly made.
yet, they can be enjoyable, even if you admit you "like it"
or not. the whole point is just to ask what groups you think
are goofy/strange/whatever, but still like to sneak a listen
to from time to time.

i'm not saying the music isn't "terrible" cos i like the
members of the band, but cos i like the music.

not all good music has to be technically sophisticated.
that's why i dislike of the whole concept of "guilty
pleasure bands" or "it's so bad it's good."

then find another topic to post in. you're being far too
critical about something that isn't even remotely meant to
be taken so seriously.

i like plenty of pop and mainstream rock -- the only
difference is i don't try to claim it "sucks" or is
"terrible." i don't know why conformist is having such a
hissy fit over my right to express myself. when a question
is asked, i think before i respond. should i play dumb
because he doesn't want to hear my opinion? obviously that's
not going to happen. i suggest he stop reading my posts if
my thoughts are too immature for him.

all titsworth did was voice that he isn't an advocate of the

which is perfectly fine. your the one who seems to be
taking it a little to seriously my friend.
