This album is awesome, the best electronic album ever made,
in my 100% correct opinion.

So discuss. Because it's never been discussed before on this
messageboard.

Hindsight is 20/20... how do you feel about Drukqs a year
later?

heres my deal about Drukqs.

When it first came out, I LOVED it. listened to it none
stop, thought it was the most amazing electronic album,
loved just holding the case in my hand, and on and on... but
i have taken a few months break from it, been listening to
other stuff like oval, fennesz, monolake, phoenecia, prefuse
73.... and after returning, i still like it, but i don't
love it like i used to, same goes with squarepusher, just
can't get into it anymore.

I listened to it non-stop for two months after it came
out... and I've been on a prolonged break, MANY MONTHS, but
I came crawling back this morning, and FUCK, this album
makes me hard. I love every piano track now, but I used to
find some of them boring.

Really is what?

I've gone off it and on it repeatedly, so now sign of it
stopping.

Quiet, you! I've just never seen anybody mention Drukqs on
this board before...

...

:-/

So I thought I'd be the first.

Of course noone has ever mentioned drukQs. Wtf do you think
this is? An Aphex Twin board?

I feel alot better about Drukqs actually. It's perfect for
my current state of mind. The change in tempos keeps me
going.

Now that said, I look back at Drukqs as being heavily
influenced by Venetian Snares infused with RDJ magic.

well, i picked mine up in a CD shop that lets you open the
CDs and listen to them, and it had already been opened. me,
being to excited to care, grabbed it and ran over to the
instore CD players. i didnt notice that disc 2 was where
disc 1 was supposed to be, and vice versa. hearing the sweet
sounds of 54 cymru beats coming through the headphones. afx
was back, with STYLE!

only cd or anything i have _EVER_ been able to listen to for
more than a year STRAIGHT.

I'm talking practically every day (at least one song, if not
one whole cd.) especially vordhosbn

That cd has so much to offer.

like in my other thread, how richard hates releasing musci
all the time, well he creates music that can be listened to
for a long period of time, and never becoming boring.

most brilliant cd ... ever...

i loved it as soon as i bought it, i remember waiting in
great anticipation for its release...i used to draw the afx
logo on whatever desk i sat in at school, with the release
date underneath...i went to the store the day it was
released only to find out it came out a day earlier in the
uk, the day after in the us...so i left dissappointed, but
returned the second day, and was late to class...

it actually influenced me to write the wierdest but in my
opinion the best album ive recorded...and of course it was a
double album so i was exhausted after writing it....whew!

It's like a fine wine or cheese, it has to age to
perfection. Right about now the album sounds so much better
than when i bought it last year.

i agree completely.

it gets better every time i listen to it.

and doesn't...stop...growing.
just fuckinginsane.

at first it was hard,
i couldn't even remember which song was which (ie. thinktoy
mix) - i would hear it and be like "shit, what song is
this"

I think it's the layers in Drukqs that make it so
interesting...it's very intricately done. Guess that's why
you can listen to it for so long, because you pick up a new
piece of Drukqs' intricate puzzle each time you hear it :)

I just love this album. It's a work of art. People have
mentioned that the album has grown on them. Maybe that's one
of the reasons it took so long to release? The tracks had to
grow on the man himself. Maybe there's other stuff he did
that he's not happy with but it's growing on him as he
listens to it. Roll on the remix album though!

yeah...anything new from RDJ would be great!
just...something new!
