are they good, i saw cds by them at the store and they
looked cool(cover art and packaging and the name) but the
new review on pitchfork didnt make it sound so good. what
are your thoughts on them?

i don't care about what pitchfork says -- they gave the
fragile a 2, lateralus a 1, drukqs a 5, etc... :)

i like reading their reviews, they're talented for writing
reviews, but i don't give a shit what they liked or what
they didn't!

never rely on just one review... go see on amazon.com,
metacritic.com (if they have it), etc.. :)

thievery corporation are pretty dope, they're from my
hometown (DC).. instead of starting w/ one of their albums
you might want to get either a mix cd by them or a
compilation from their label & club, ESL

Their first album (Sounds from the Thievery Hi-Fi) is really
good. I've got the second (Mirror Conspiracy) which is OK,
but they are one of those bands that, while good, are samey
and when you've heard one Thieve album you've heard them
all. Its a case of making sure you have one album and then
going elsewhere to here something different.

Their comps are good so they DO have taste...

TC is sorta like Eastern Chill/Electronica if you can
imagine that. Mirror Conspiracy is a good one to start with,
probably :)

Their DJKicks Album is also well informed; a down-tempo
classic...

Will see them play in Van in Nov...
