Whitehouse is not musique concrete, because this term for
the most part goes for academic composition using
"unmusical" sounds as sources: tapes and records of sounds
etc. Pierre Schaffer, Piere Henry, Bernard Parmegianni
(championed by Autechre boys BTW), even Stockhausen and Cage
have all done this at some point or other.

Yes, that was the key point I was trying to make. It falls
in the tradition of academic composition, as opposed to
"pop" music that you can say Whitehouse belongs too.

Whitehouse is part of "industrial" movement from the late
70s, bands like Throbbing Gristle, SPK, NON etc. Check out
http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/95/whitehouse/.html

to hear their (his actually) stuff.

I thought I made it very clear that saying "pop" means "Not
academic and not folk music", and yes, industrial and noise
musics are part of pop culture if not being pop in a strict
sense.
