My favorite album is "Tabula Rasta" (excuse the spelling). I
didn't really like the new album "Silence is Sexy"

I know only one of their songs (SABRINA), wich I like a
lot.
I should check them...

Try to see the fantastic video for Sabrina!!!

i have 'silence is sexy', which is just great, and 'halber
mensch' in mp3 which is very good too but very very
different...

'silence is sexy' is more mature and varied, and 'halber
mensch' more psychotic-abrasive...

I have a lot of Neubauten records--I recommend Silence is
Sexy for a minimalist touch, Halber Mensch for really rough
stuff. Ende Neu is a great record for a mixture of minimal
industrial stuff and really abrasive tracks. Also, Tabula
Rasa is a great record, but probably not as appealing to
people who don't know Neubauten's work yet.

I've got Strategies Against Architecture 2 and it's very
good, especially the second CD which I've played many times

Any of those are good, oh yah. :)
I wouldn't be quick to recommend Neubauten to aphex fans
though--it can be really slow and heavy and quite unlike the
largest body of his work. :)

I have a few.

really like "ende neu". the duet (!) "stella maris" on there
is just so beautiful.

aaah the Neubauten

Spookyluke basically covered it but couldnt being resist
being a part of this thread..yep an ageold long time fan of
them..Habler Mensch is a compilation of their gretest hits
(and in their case it's always literal heh)..from their
earlier album...I highly recommend tracking down the video
and now probably DVD of it..it's a stunning stunning
movie...long since been aped over and over by many a
Industrial/Electronica and even Metal music
videos..especially the amazing Japanese performance art
troupe driven ZNS...

and that stuff is vastly different from Tabula Rasa and
Silence is Sexy (which I recently finally bought after
relenting for a year or so mainly because it is very
different)....these albums are a lot more musical..and very
plesant and listenable by comparison to the early chaotic
cacophanous stuff...

I think the closest reference to Neubauten's sound in
Aphex's arsenal is probably Gwarek 2 though a lot of his
earlier, metallic percussive tunes (say we have arrived) can
pass for the more energetic Neubauten numbers..only
difference..is that on the Neubauten's tracks..it aint no
sequencer goin clang clang clang:)

EN are excellent. i saw the video for "sabrina" last night,
really nice. (want to see it? go to http://launch.yahoo.com)
EN were making music w/ household items long before most of
the artists "we" listen to. i feel really stupid for not
seeing them live a few years ago.

an update from Oct.4 when i first posted this thread:

i've listened to Einsturzende enough to realize that i think
they're one of the WORST industrial groups ever. i hate them

it's starting to become my favorite band ever.

um..if you think that of EN..then face it..you dont really
like INDUSTRIAL..just it's generic, mutated, pulped and
otherwise smoothed out off shoots...

sabrina, scary? i think it's a very beautiful song...
i didn't find it scary ' _ '

(but i never got really afraid by a song... maybe some of
SAWII i find scary ([spots], [hankie]...), but i haven't
really been afraid by them... i have the feeling i'm missing
something -_-)

i just hope sabrina is not the name of the monster in the
video, i'd prefer to imagine a prettier person as 'sabrina'!
;)
(even if that monster may be a very nice person, who
knows...)

Similarly to Flea, I can't resist posting in this thread,
even though I haven't got anything interesting to add.
Einsturzende Neubauten kick ass. I have all their records.
Period.
