I got a solution to replace soulseek, but no one cares. So I say allow other clients to connect to it. The client sucks...I think I've said that a few times today...I'm just tired of it disconnecting and/or freezing my computer...

There are alternate soulseek clients for Linux - pyslsk and mldonkey.
nir is releasing the source code of the Windows client to certain interested developers, so maybe the situation will improve.
It would be nice to see some of the more interesting features of other p2p clients in soulseek like swarming, per-user bandwidth allocation and dynamic (non-slot based) bandwidth allocation. But with only one person working on it, new features are likely to be added very slowly.
Check out the shareaza gnutella client for an example of a great p2p client. It was also created by just one person. If you could actually find things on gnutella life would be good. :-)

And if you just want to share and chat without any hassles or queues, get on the opennap server! (or email me for account info)
We have almost 300 GB of good music shared at the moment and we need more.

Yeah that annoys me too how Soulseek freezes up my computer like every 10 minutes... I thought that only happened to me
