he is pretty awesome
i have just two of his albums so far, but they're both
wonderful

"ice acoustik" is great, ambient with some cool beats
"project 3" is much alike, just with more vocals- but non
vocal tracks are realy awesome

if anyone is interested in ambient, they should also check
TOM OPDAHL
one of the best ambient musicians i heard

quite good

i made a topic about a "times when i know you'll be sad" by
Biosphere, but nobody replied and i became sad.

tolstoyed: you probably know more about Norwegian ambient
music than i do.... :)

i don't know much about it, its just that i like it a
lot-its really amazing how many great ambient musicians
comes from norway (most of them from tromso), especialy
northern norway
i got into this music relatively late- i bought some cd's
about a year ago(biosphere, arne nordheim,...), but i wasn't
really focused on that music at the time, but when i got
substrata and a man with a movie camera i was totally into
it-and then i bought all the albums by biosphere i could
find (i think im missing two now) and now im just checking
as much norwegian music as possible- but im planing on
visiting norway next year probably, and im sure i'll get
many great albums hehe

im still thinking of visiting biosphere gig in rome on
september 13th and 14th

yeah, i dunno what it is about Tromsø.....
It's a shame you didn't came to visit Norway (Tromsø) late
August, because there was a electronic music festival there
with acts like: Biosphere, Kim Hiorthøy among others.

You should also check out Mental - Overdrive "Plugged".
It's my fav. "made-by-someone-from-Tromsø" album ever.
Heavy on Atari-distorted beats. And ambient, of course.

is it mental overload?
i just checked on amazon and its not avaliable
how accessible is this music in norwegian record shops?
i had to order some of these directly from the publisher

shit, i spelled it right but it's supposed to be: Mental
Overdrive (without the -)
i would also imagine it would be very hard to find.

i don't know if it's more accesible over here. probably, but
still they have to order it from somewhere (as you said,
directly from the publisher).

I reckon Biosphere would be quite easy find here. but of
course, it depends what you're looking for. the best thing
is to contact the label.

thanks
i just ordered ad absurdum by mental overdrive (but its
going to take them a while to get it-i hope they get it at
all)
and also new album by kim hiorthoy-after i found this about
him:
"Perhaps the strongest reference point would be the Aphex
Twin of "I Care Because You Do", but unlike Richard James,
Hiorthoy still sounds as though he gives a damn."
(Rob Young, THE WIRE)

i wouldn't go for Ad Absurdum...hehe. but perhaps you like
it. It's much more house stuff on there than "Plugged"...

well, it was only one avaliable :)
but apperantly its going to take them 4-6 weeks to get it
because of limited edition- so i may not get it at all)

i received melke by kim hiorthoy couple of days ago. This is
really cool album, it remindes me of manitoba a lot (and i
really like manitoba), i must check his other albums, and i
recommend this album for all the people that like manitoba
or fourtet-i must say i like this one even better, so go for
it you wont be dissapointed
