Sum up in a few words (or more) what it is they like about
the Aphex Twin.

It doesn't matter really

For me I think it was the beatle song that really got me
hooked. I liked the ambient works although why they have to
be so short? (this is an afterthought) Then I was mostly
just hearing the singles. I was listening to allot of
techno at this time. But it was definately the Girl/Boy
single that I liked-please let this be the right one so I
don't look like an idiot ;}
Yea so I guess I just thought cool a song about beetles or
something who knows?
I don't listen to any of that anymore I think it had it's
time and place.

"It doesn't matter really"

that sentence makes your question feel me kind of sad, don't
really know why..

I got into Aphex Twin through SAW II. The thing that really
struck me was it SOUNDED SO DIFFERENT. I had never heard
anything like that. The music was so deep and moody; I once
remarked it sounded like the Orb on powerful tranquilizers +
hallucinagenics. :.)

I got around to collecting other albums (RDJ, SAW I, ICBYD,
Caustic Window...) and then was impressed by his
versatility. It seemed like Aphex Twin could do all kinds
of music. When I found this site and others like it, I read
the interviews and histories befind Mr. James. Turned out
he was eccentric and uncompromising and INTELLIGENT as his
music was.

Been listening ever since...

I had that with autechre. I'd never heard anything like it.
it was exactly what I had been looking for for a long, long
time.

I think it was SAW 1+2, and drukqs. Those we're some his
song that I heard first. The emotion is fantastic and some
of the tracks on drukqs are so complicated that you cant
even experience the whole song with 1 listen.

I just got into Radiohead, specifically Kid A... they opened
my ears to music NOT centered around guitars, and Aphex is
maybe the most important electronic artist... and accessible
enough to make a good intro. Demented, but not fucked up
enough to turn me off.

Not exactly sure. I just like the atmosphere, he can make
really innocent sounding beautiful stuff, and also evil
nasty stuff, or both at the same time. It does it for me...
