I feel about the same. The troops sent to the Gulf war were
professionals. Fuck them.

whatever - i understand satire jonesy.
let's just forget it, if you're all joking - fine - that's
ok.
i'm sorry - but i didn't find it funny, i know people in the
army, and i don't want them to be sent out there so they can
get blown up.
i got too involved. sorry if, in turn, i pissed you off.
continue with the satire/sarcasm.
i will concentrate on other threads.

Mate, you haven't pissed anybody off. It's nice to once in a
while run into a human being that still tries to be open and
honest instead of hiding behind walls of smartass sarcasm.
Makes a nice change. But my point stays the same: don't join
the army if you don't want to kill/ get killed for someone
else's interests.

yeah, i won't go into the army either for the same reasons
as you, but if someone i knows wants to join, i'm not gonna
disown them and it won't stop me loving them or feeling some
loss when they die because of some prick president sending
them there 'cause he' a bit paranoid.
right that's it - i won't say anymore.

The funny thing is that I did serve one year in the army,
it's a mandatory thing in this country and it so happened
that while I was there, the war in ex-Yugoslavia started so
I almost ended up fighting myself because there was no
fucking choice. Right there I could see how fucking stupid
and ridden with paradox all that is.

I wouldn't piss on all those who join the army. many working
class youngsters see no other way of making their way in the
world and can't fully comprehend the consequences of this
decision. Take the number of fucked up, traumatised people
that have come back from wars with a hatred of their rulers.

OK, true, but all the same, fuck it. Just because you are
not ready to think about the consequences of your decisions,
doesn't mean you should be sparred them.

There are many evils involved in this current situation: i
have expressed my opposition to the attack on Iraq in
previous threads but I think that the question of what is to
be done to change the Saudi regime must be asked now. We all
accept that the invasion of Iraq by any western force would
be violating international law and a gross error. We even
doubt that Saddam in capable/in the process of developing
nuclear warheads, however, we refrain from criticising
probably the most unjust, hypocritical, inhumane and
tyrannical states in the middle east: Saudi Arabia. The
wahabite philosophy adopted by the autocratic princes of
this country is the most intolerant, repressive and backward
forms of islamic heresy (i say heresy as it goes against all
that islam stands for) to have gained weight in an arab
nation. Every year hundreds of opponents to the Saudi regime
are imprisonded without trial, tortured and sentenced to
death for subversive comments. Now that the Saudi
dictatorship is known to be involved or at leat closely
connected to Ossama Bin Laden, Al Qaeda and terrorist
activities the US is loosening its diplomatic ties with
Saudi Arabia. The real reason for the replacing of Saddam by
a pro-american puppet leader is to weaken western dependancy
on Saudi Oil. The UN/western nations and moderate islamic
nations sould all make efforts to shun the Saudi's and
weaken their ties with this corrupt nomenklatura of
tyrannical "royals".

The International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) in
London has delivered an in-depth report on the current
weapons programme being undertaken by Iraq. Here are the key
findings:
Nuclear

Iraq does not possess facilities to produce fissile material
(enriched uranium or plutonium) in sufficient amounts for
nuclear weapons. It would need at least several years and
extensive foreign assistance to build such fissile material
production facilities.

It could probably assemble nuclear weapons within months if
fissile material from foreign sources were obtained (and
there is no evidence that this has happened).Biological

Iraq probably retained substantial growth media and
biological weapons agents (perhaps thousands of litres of
anthrax) from pre-1991 stocks. It is capable of resuming
production on short notice (weeks) and could have produced
thousands of litres of anthrax, botulinium and other agents
since 1998. (actual stocks unknown).
Chemical
Iraq probably retained a few hundred tonnes of mustard agent
and precursors for a few hundred tonnes of sarin/cyclosarin
and perhaps similar amounts of VX from pre-1991 stocks.

It is capable of resuming chemical weapons production on
short notice (months) and could have produced hundreds of
tonnes of agent (mustard and nerve agents) since 1998
(actual stocks unknown).

Iraq weapons report: Key findings

Sarin-filled rockets were found in Iraq after the Gulf War

The International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) in
London has delivered an in-depth report on the current
weapons programme being undertaken by Iraq. Here are the key
findings:
Nuclear

Iraq does not possess facilities to produce fissile material
(enriched uranium or plutonium) in sufficient amounts for
nuclear weapons.

Iraq ''can deliver chemical or biological weapons in various
tactical arms''

It would need at least several years and extensive foreign
assistance to build such fissile material production
facilities.

It could probably assemble nuclear weapons within months if
fissile material from foreign sources were obtained (and
there is no evidence that this has happened).
Biological

Iraq probably retained substantial growth media and
biological weapons agents (perhaps thousands of litres of
anthrax) from pre-1991 stocks.

Iraq is capable of resuming chemical weapons production on
short notice (months)

IISS report

It is capable of resuming production on short notice (weeks)
and could have produced thousands of litres of anthrax,
botulinium and other agents since 1998. (actual stocks
unknown).

Ballistic missiles

Iraq probably retained a small force of 650km (al-Hussein)
missiles, perhaps around a dozen missiles. It does not
possess facilities to produce long-range missiles, would
require several years and extensive foreign assistance to
construct such facilities.

It may have produced some al-Samoud missil
