Orbital and Crystal Method

Infant With Lung Cancer on 2001-08-15 07:31 [#00021977]

I hate Orbital and Crystal Method, I really do. In articles
they say Orbital is the "new" Pink Floyd. In articles for
Air, they say "does the world really need another Pink
Floyd, Air seem too think so............"

=|R3FL3X|= from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 2001-08-15 07:50 [#00021984]

Orbital is fucking awsome. Crystal Method is damn good as
well.. my opinion ofcourse... but er... why the hate/

Super Magnetic Neo from Australia on 2001-08-15 08:46 [#00021995]

Love Orbital. But I'm too big a Crystal Method fan. I don't
hate em but...

Mescaline on 2001-08-15 08:49 [#00021996]

Orbital and Crystal Method make real good music, some sounds
of this groups is damn great!
But once Keith Flint said that Orbital sound was great only
when u used drugs.
Try this.

Infant With Lung Cancer on 2001-08-15 08:51 [#00021997]

This too is my shit personal oppinion: Well, Orbital is the
kind of music that people that wear orange glasses dance to.
They helped Kirk Hamlett in providing that shit song "Satan"
for the Spawn soundtrack. They sound to cut and clean, each
sound is sharp in away, I sort of consider that a bad thing,
and for some reason, they remind me of K-Mart and cheap wine
casks.
Crystal Method, I don't hate as much, but everyone on here
seems to like them and Orbital; I've heard shit like Little
Fluffy Clouds and that and I hate it. To me, Orbital is like
the pop music of this. The same way bands like Linkin Park,
Staind, Papa Roach et al are of rock. Sash! and Chicane go
with Orbital.

Infant With Lung Cancer on 2001-08-15 08:55 [#00021999]

Although, Linkin Park fans don't actually know what thy're
listening to. "Fuck off, this aint pop music this is the
reall shit, listen to the passion, can you hear the passion?
i don't think you're listening hard enough. Have a listen to
this Papa Roach cd too, listen to the man talk about kids
killing themselves and shit, you know, this shits for real.
This music helps a thug life survivor, like myself, get up
in the morning, you know?"

Infant With Lung Cancer on 2001-08-15 08:56 [#00022000]

You can reply with "you don't know what the fuck you're
talkin' 'bout.." if you like, because really, I don't. I
have no idea, seriously.

CUN8eR LASIT from LASiT on 2001-08-15 10:01 [#00022011]

Little Fluffy clouds is a track by the Orb .. mmmhhh ...
I'll leave it at that

Granpa we love you from the home on 2001-08-15 10:08 [#00022013]

You can't really diss Orbital, they helped build the whole
electronic scene.. they were one of the first 'dance' acts
(along with LFO) to make this music work in an album format.
Besides which, they wrote Chime, Belfast, Halcyon, Lush, The
Box, Are We Here etc etc. Which is a lot more quality tunage
than most artists put out over their careers. Give em their
due, they were true pioneers.

The Crystal Method, however, are fuckin trash.

=|R3FL3X|= from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 2001-08-15 10:11 [#00022015]

why dont you people state that its your opinion instead of
acting like its the truth. geez.

orbital makes some fucking intense tunes.. very indepth
songs. I guess this is my opinion, when i listen to them its
very..... good and I pay close attention.

Mescaline on 2001-08-15 10:14 [#00022017]

Granpa u forget P.E.T.R.O.L., Sad Out True.

=|R3FL3X|= from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 2001-08-15 10:15 [#00022018]

oh - they made..... er.. have made tons of awsome songs. the
box1/2 is awsome! they make some killer shit. il throw them
on now.

Granpa we love you from the home on 2001-08-15 10:21 [#00022021]

Reflex - alright, it's just my opinion. But it's pretty
unarguable, even if you don't like Orbital, you have to give
em respect.

Mr Smith from Washington on 2001-08-15 11:00 [#00022034]

Reflex
Everyones posts are their "opinions," no one can speak for
everyone. It's right to assume that what people post is
their "opinions." There is no need for the statement "THIS
IS MY PERSONAL OPINION" to be stuck to each post. Perhaps if
you spent your time thinking rather then complaining, you'd
know this.

=|R3FL3X|= from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 2001-08-15 11:16 [#00022044]

Mr Smith: what? me? hahaha. What a joke.

Chrispy from UK on 2001-08-15 11:24 [#00022048]

I love Orbital. I've always liked Orbital more than
anything. Everyones gotta have one of those songs which make
you shudder, a really strange feeling. Lush 3-1 and Box 1/2
do it to me.

Aphex is cool and I like listening carfully to it, but I
cant close me eyes and fall into it like I do with Orbital;
totally forgeting everything thats going on, even if I didnt
want to forget anything. Makes me feel so good.

Hows about anyone else? Which songs make you physically
shudder? R3FL3X?

Chrispy from UK on 2001-08-15 11:25 [#00022049]

I might add.... Aphex makes me tap my feet a bit more. Only
a little bit more though :)

Ms. Smith on 2001-08-15 11:27 [#00022050]

Stop this talking down you stupid asshole,
where u been last night? drunk with your "friends"?

I'm apologise for my husband dear =|R3FL3X|=, he don't have
enough wisdom to sit back and shut up.
If u want we can walk this night together,
then i'll show you what does mean THE REAL EASY DIG!

With best wishes Ms. Smith

I personally think Orbital are fantastic, but they've had
their best years by now.
The Alltogether and Middle of Nowhere are nice albums, but
are more or less a bit old had compared to their previous
classics, like In Sides, Snivilisation and the Green and
Brown albums.
But you gotta give 'm some credit indeed, they have been
extremely important in setting up the current wave of
electronic bands in the nineties.

Granpa we love you from the home on 2001-08-15 11:37 [#00022054]

Orbital's Halcyon makes me shudder, makes my eyes glaze
over, gives me a lump in my throat... Papua New Guinea by
FSOL as well. And LFO by LFO. UK techno/hardcore circa 91-95
generally, even the harsh stuff, gives me daft grins...

Flux from London on 2001-08-15 12:32 [#00022071]

Orbital are fantastic! I went to see them live a couple of
months ago & have to say they were AMAZING!!

I do however agree that the Altogether is probably the
weakest album in their portfolio. It's got some fantastic
songs on it (Funny Break being an absolute stunner) but the
rest are a tad uninspiring. Hope the nest album makes up for
it!

helios from Switzerland on 2001-08-15 14:54 [#00022096]

for me, obrital makes music with with i can better dance,
but aphex is absolutely more interesting." Halcon " by
orbital makes me shudder. what do you think is the best
obrital album?

Granpa we love you from the home on 2001-08-15 14:56 [#00022097]

The Brown album for dancing round your house, In-Sides for
lying on the sofa.

Chrispy from UK on 2001-08-15 15:02 [#00022098]

I think insides is the best and I think MON comes a close
second because of the songs: Way Out, Know where to run and
Nothing left.

Halycon is damn good

helios from Switzerland on 2001-08-15 15:06 [#00022101]

i'm not sure, but is halcon a soundtrack from the movie
"hackers". Do u know it?

Chrispy from UK on 2001-08-15 15:18 [#00022102]

It mentions Orbital at Amazon... It probably is in there ya
know... cool. Didnt know that.

diego on 2001-08-15 16:04 [#00022116]

yeah it's on Hackers OST. Never seen it? Not a bad film at
all, I think it must be more or less the first movie with
Angelina Jolie..
Underworld are also on the soundtrack.

diego on 2001-08-15 16:05 [#00022117]

'Halcyon +On +On' to be precise.
(or so I think)

newcomer on 2001-08-15 16:26 [#00022122]

i believe it is also on the mortal kombat ost

Granpa we love you from the home on 2001-08-15 16:36 [#00022124]

Halcyon+On+On was the album version of the 12" single. God I
am so dull...

Granpa we love you from the home on 2001-08-15 16:41 [#00022127]

...actually, I can be duller. Halcyon is the name of a
downer medication that the Hartnoll's mum was addicted to,
and the song is meant to be a statement against the
brainwashing and tranquilizing of the populace, mainly thru
TV and that. Hence the 'cabbages' on the cover of the
single, and the title 'Radiccio EP' (I probably spelt that
wrong, which means cabbage in French, or maybe Italian. I
don't know. And the female voice in the track is a sample
taken from Opus 3's Fine Day, which was reversed.

I could probably get duller, but I will stop there.

PearlsGirrl on 2001-08-15 17:25 [#00022137]

i loooooove orbital. halycon live was so amazing.
someone mentioned underworld too. they are the shit. one of
the best live shows i have seen

Pitch in Retrograde from texas on 2001-08-15 17:33 [#00022140]

crystal method can jump up my butt

frank white on 2001-08-15 17:55 [#00022154]

to be the shit, is that a good thing or a bad, bad
thing?

The_Funkmaster from Canada on 2001-08-16 02:21 [#00022285]

I dunno, but I own In Sides by Orbital, and a couple Aphex
Twin albums, and I Care Because You Do is much better then
In Sides... The songs on In Sides have a lot of sounds which
sound very distinct by themselves, which isn't a bad thing
if you like that, but the songs on I Care Because You Do
sounds more fluid, and is better in my opinion... In Sides
is an alright album though...

Glass from Saddam Hussein's Closet on 2001-08-16 05:39 [#00022300]

Orbital have some really cool tracks, some however, are just
mediocre techno. The Orb is far better. Vegas by the
Crystal Method is excellent, but the follow up, Tweekend, is
absolutely revolting. It's rare you see such a regression.
Every track sounds like it has the exact same sounds and fx
used. Especially since it took what, 5 years for this thing
to come out?

PearlsGirrl on 2001-08-16 05:46 [#00022302]

frank white, to be "the shit" is definitley a good thing.
now go brush up on your hip lingo skills ;0)
