this thread was an interesting read... my younger brother was really shocked when i mentioned to him a few days ago i thought avril was okay. Lol, now he wonders what is wrong with me ;-) It's funny that none of the negative posts about Avril lavigne actually say anything about the MUSIC. You people are all more concerned (upset) about her image and whether she is cute or not. (and just for the record, she is :-p) I've only heard her two singles... i thought Complicated was a really good song. Would you people have liked it more if Alanis Morisette had written it? Or Ani Difranco or whoever... it seems most people here had already deceided they wouldn't like this song once they saw it was sung by a 17 year old who likes to dress in punkclothes. It's so ridiculous... some of the posters here are just as pathetic as the "dumb people" they are criticizing so much. I really agree with all the things taoist said in this thread. |

Been busy with other things mostly :-) (when you're a mailman, xmas is actually an incredibly busy time! :-p All those christmas-cards... it's insane! Who cares if she is pretending to be a bad-girl, or if she really is a bad-girl, if she thought of that image herself, or if a huge marketing-team came up with it... at the end of the day isn't it the music that matters? If you would have been living on a deserted island for the last 2 years... and then someone came sailing to that island to let you hear avril's music... and you might really like it... and yet now you dislike it because you know who is behind it... :-/ It just doesn't make sense. A good song is a good song... no matter where it comes from. And complicated was a damn good song (skater boi is okay too i guess... but not as great as complicated). Cabbog's comment about the production is true though... i bet the demos sounded better. |

well put... i really don't think there's anything evil about it. It's just a phase everyone has to go to i think. But if it makes them happy... what's the problem? I'm kind of starting to like shakira :-p I hated her first single... didn't really like "underneath your clothes" either, but at least you could hear in that one that she does have a really great voice. But now her latest single (that tango-song) is actually pretty good. I even thought it sounded somewhat original, and there's this one part it in with sort of heavy guitars... it's really quite a decent song. I also saw a making-of for the video... and she came up with the concept herself... which i thought was nice. It was inspired (according to shakira) by Leslie Nielsen's movies, because she's a huge fan of him :-D What a cool girl, lol |
