I'm gonna start looking into hiring some sort of huge
house/mansion for a big Aphex party thing.

If I did this, who would be interested in coming over?

(Obviously this is only the start of so I don't know
anything about anything yet! lol)

All this can easily be done. It's just getting people from
accross the world to come over, like a short break. I cant
do anything until I know who wants to come for def..... if
it goes ahead, ya know?

I'll swim across the Atlantic to get to this party. And I
can't even swim! But I'd force myself to swim to get to
that.

You'll need money from people up front or you'll end up out
of pocket if they cancel.

Also, don't rely on RDJ coming- he'd probably say he'd come
then not turn up. I say we get a few of us to DJ/play live
and have some other activity to do as well...

about the money tho. I'd creat another account and chart
who's paid incase it all falls through, then everyone gets
theyre money back..... need s to be enough notice for stuff
like plane journeys and shit

Good plan! We can get people to bring cheap spirits from
their country with them for the "bar".

We'll need a field where we're allowed to play music fairly
loud and we'll also need to hire speakers as well as a
marquee/borrow a large tent for the main music area.

It probably woulden't cost that much either.

Give a farmer a bit of cash to use his field, bring your own
tents, buy LOADS of cheap booze and drugs and all chip in
for a marquee

The more of us that go, the cheaper it gets. We'll have to
agree to "mark up" the price and that the leftovers are
divied up equally. We also need a minimum threshold (say 20
people) and if it falls below that we cancel. We need to
keep it informal and make it look like a gathering of
friends rather than a festival (or we'll need a license for
music & drinking - £1000s). We should keep it a simple as
possible- self catering and we just hire a farmer's field (a
fair way from a main road or else we'll have
gatecrashers/police to contend with).

We also need to consider the possibility of the londoners
taking minibuses of people from gatwick/heathrow (where I
assume most people will be flying to) if enough people are
interested, as it'd save on everyone getting the train down
etc.

We also need to book well in advance and probably make it a
long weekend (people aren't going to want to fly in for only
1 full day).

Just for a rough idea of numbers/viability, how many people
would be prepared to come if tickets (not including food or
travel) were £40-50 and it was a 2-3 day event? It'd
probably be out in the country somewhere in the UK.

I'm just being realistic- people will be reluctant to agree
to come if they don't know how much it'll cost. The only
real cost I can see is hiring a field for the weekend (away
from main roads & livestock fields) and also a PA system,
unless any UK .NTers have something suitable (if so we'd
still need to pay them for the insurance on the equipment)?

The marquee isn't so vital- we could quite easily just buy a
couple of big gazebos (£60-70 each) for the cost of hiring
a marquee. If it was really stormy we could always
move the equipment in someone's car/minbus.

I'd pay that

shit, I spend more than that on a night out on myself ! (not
including taxi fare !!)

You could come though!

B3n: If you know the farmer ask him how much it'd cost to
hire from friday -sunday. Be up front and tell him there'll
be music, but that we'll clean the field afterwards. We'll
have a bonfire, but replace the turf afterwards.

I've just thought of 1 problem - toilets...
