I'm sure Metroid IV will be a great game.. I've been
playing Castlevania:Circle of the Moon quite a bit lately.
Not as good as it's big brother (Symphony of Darkness) on
the Playstation, but it's only running on 128 bits.. Best
game for the GBA that I've played so far. Hopefully they'll
come out with a new Zelda for it as well.. Maybe there are
already plans for it, I haven't really been keeping up with
the latest news as much as I used to. Can anybody fill me
in?

it for nostalgic value?

Get Tactics Ogre. Best damn game on the gba IMO. It's
gotten stellar ratings too.

Tony Hawk looked pretty cool on the GBA, almost as good as
the PS1!!! That aint bad for technology for your pocket. :)

Yup, magical Vacation should be hot as well as FFT(If Square
changes around the elements enough to merit me to buy it on
a downgraded system.)

Good to know there's some people out there that like RPG's
as much as me.

Thanks for the list Mog! Golden Sun was actually the first
game I bought for my Advance.. It's a decent cartridge but
I'm really sick to death of this post-Squaresoft Japanese
RPG garbage... It's getting irritating. I'd like something
a little more grim and American.. Like Fallout. I suppose
it would be hard to market anything like that for the GBA
though as it's aimed mostly at younger folks. However, I
did hear that Black Isle is developing a Baldur's Gate title
specifically for the Gameboy... Know anything about that?
The two Zelda games for the GBC were okay, but I thought the
game play got a bit repetative after the first few quests.
Maybe I'm just starting to outgrow that sort of thing... My
favorite Zelda was always 'A Link to the Past' for SNES.
I've heard good reviews of Advance Wars.. What do you
think? Wario Land 4 looks kind of cute, maybe I'll pick
that up.. Someone mentioned something about it being really
short though. Castlevania : Harmony of Dissonance is a
sure-fire winner. I bet it will be 5x as good as Circle of
the Moon. Isn't the creator of Symphony of Darkness leading
the development on it? Haven't heard of some of the others
you mentioned(Fire Emblem, Magical Vacation)..

Get Tactics Ogre man. It's Final Fantasy Tactics style
goodness.

Hmmm, since thegia shutdown these sites will have to do.
Check either for soem info.

www.gameforms.com
www.rpgamer.com

and even www.videogames.com will work.

Thanks for the links, I'll take a look at some of them
tomorrow.
I've never played FF Tactics.. All I heard was that the
English translation was atrocious. Does the core of the
gameplay consist of strategic battle?

Final Fantasy Tactics is AMAZING, but the story sucks. I
ignored it. The battles and everything are first rate.

GBA is awesome... I've never touched one, but I've got most
of the good games emulated. Wario Land 4 is amazing, and
Circle of the Moon is phenomenal... great system. I love 2-D
gaming!

The Jackie Chan game is awesome!

What do you think the best Metroid was? I really liked
Return of Samus for the Gameboy.. Those metroids sent
shivers down my spine! I've heard that the one for SNES is
the best, I haven't really had a chance to play it though.
Maybe I'll hunt the cartridge down on eBay one of these days
and bring it over to a friend's..

cabbog heres some info on those 3 games.

Magical vacation is an rpg made by ex-square employees, im
pretty sure its got excellent reviews in japan so far.

if you ever played smash bros melee for gc, roy and marth
are from the rpg fire emblem. its been an old game in japan
since the snes days but never came to america. im not sure
if this is a brand new game but its comin out here finally.
and advance wars is very good and very very very long.
theres like 15 traning missions and 100 something campaign
missions and you can make your own missions. im barely
anywhere in the campaign. its a strategy game, turn based
but its quite different than most rpgs. check some reviews
to see if you like it.

also wario land 4 is so cool, get that game its great
platforming goodness.

haven't heard anything about that baldur's gates for gba so
far but its possible. and yes the same team is behind
harmony of dissonance that did symphony of the night for
ps1(at least most of the team). mgs is also another good gbc
game, i still have to buy it and metroid2 for gb. I hope
they remake metroid1 for gba because it was so damn annoying
to save by those ridiculous # system they used. i could just
get the rom too though but id prefer the original one.

Haha - Atari Lynx. Damn right it's the size of a
skateboard.

My sister got a GBA. Seems okay, but since it's got no
backlight, to extend battery life blah blah, it's so frikkin
difficult to see unless you've got a perfectly lit
environment.

If a decent Zelda game came out for it, then I'd be in
business....

i forget the site but there is something you can buy that
installs a backlit light in the gba. of course the reason
they didn't include it in the first place is that it drains
batteries twice as fast as without the backlit light.

I don't recommend it. I bought a game with a better review,
like a 9 or so, (advance wars) and command and conquer is
MUCH better. In ad. wars, it's not in real time, you take
turns like in chess.. also bought golden sun, and it was so
slow and stupid and boring. Plus the games are all 50 bucks
or so, instead just buy a snes or genesis off ebay and get a
LOT of games for 5-20 bucks each...

And sonic for it was just ok, not great at all. Finding the
trampoline that warps you to the level where you get the
emeralds is a pain in the ass rather than fun, and getting
the emeralds requires a 3d screen that doesn't work
correctly making you unable to tell your actual position.
And they totally messed up mario 2, mario all stars for snes
is way better.

I had the original for my Gameboy, one of my favorites. It
took me forever to find all the treasures and I loved every
second of it.. Unfortunately, none of the GBA emulators
will run on my celeocanth of a computer. I just completed
Harmony of Dissonance and I need something to tide me over
until Metroid Fusion.
Here's a question for you :
What's better, Final Fantasy Tactics or Tactics Ogre?
I've heard that they're very similar and both excellent...
That helps a fucking lot. So what one am I supposed to buy?
Which one has more occidental music? More complex
micromanagement? Should I pick them both up? Which one
should I get first?
Out of these games, which should I pick up and in what order
:
-Wario Land 4
-Yoshi's Island : Super Mario Advance 3(never played the
snes original)
-Advance Wars
-Tactics Ogre
-Final Fantasy Tactics

Anything I missed?

Get Advance Wars. It doesn't look it, but it's one of the
most involving games for the GBa, esp. in 4 player on 1 gba
(it's turn based)!

Also forget the mario games, go for Wario 4. Mario kart is
great too.
