 | those of you who don't like autechre have you listened to the progression in their music. do you not like the older
more albums or the newer more difficult or abstract works.
those of you who have heard amber as well as anything they
have put out in the three or four years would probably agree
that they have redefined their sound. Anyway, I would think
that if one likes aphex twin and appreciates his work and
evolution as an artist he would also respect their (ae's)
progression. also I really don't see how the can be heavily
compared. I could see the comparisons between mu-ziq and
aphex. such as mu-ziq'a lunatic harness and the richard d.
james album. I've always thought that autechre has a unique
understanding of space in their music that gives their music
a sound that is their own. what is the most important
record in the idm electronica scene to have come out thus
far? I think it is the richard d. james album. But my
personal favorite will always AE's amber. One can fill up
space or stretch it out when making a record. I always
loved and understood brian eno's ambient albums so I
instantly thought Autechre had hit a home run with Amber.
anyway I think neither aphex OR ae should be ignored.

 cheers

 | i hated autechre for the longest time after i got into RDJ... like 2 years. it pissed me off cause everybody kept
telling me i should get into autechre and i really COULDNT.
i dont know, the melodies were fake or something. it made no
connection wiht me whatsoever. i asked some autechre fans
what cd to try to start with and they all said "amber" or
"tri repetae" to tell you the truth, i have always thougth
and still think those albums are awful. therye boring, all
the tracks sound similar... ugh, they just suck. then
finally someone told me to try LP5. Acroyear2(first track)
got me interested, thought it was pretty decent. then
Rae(3rd track) did it. i was hooked for like 2 months. that
song is still one of the greatest songs thgat has ever
graced my ears. Rae and Pancake Lizard are the 2 most
beautiful melodies i have ever heard. well anyway, after
that i got EP7 and then confield. love all of them. i still
hate their older stuff but LP5 EP7 and confield ore awesome
in everyway. no bad points whatsoever.

 | I'm probably *one* of the biggest autechre's fans,... I have ALL of their releases either on cd or mp3 (with the
exception of 17 of the gescom minidisc tracks,.. but I'll
 have all 88 one day!!!)
and I also have almost everything aphex,... and what I'm
about to say is going to hurt,..

I beleive that autechre is better than aphex,.. now we can
all go on about the "you can't compare two completely
different types of music" point,... but away from that,... I
think that aphex is just good at what he does,... Autechre
though,.. is something else,... to the point where it's no
longer music and more of an experience,.. very few aphex
tracks have ever acheived this,... but almost everything of
 autechre manages to strike home,...

this is just my opinion,... so none bite my head off ok?

 | No, no, I'm a dishwasher. That's why I like autechre so much. I'm a mechanical machine, that's what autechre is
about. Actually, there is no such thing as a soul, unless
someone can point out where it exists in the human anatomy,
next to the kidneys or something...
I said it lacks soul though and meant that the music of
autechre lacks anthropomorphic qualities. It leaves the
human viewpoint, and enters the mind of technology. It's not
human friendly, unless you are a mathematician or one
interested in the process of evolution or something. It is
purely logical. I REALLY like it though, I certainly wasn't
dissing their music. Maybe you were offended at the thought
of lacking a soul yourself? Things I say are subjective. I
don't believe in souls, I just used that word as a metaphor.

 | Evolution is the single most interesting process that I am aware of. It is capable of creating absolutely insane
complicated things, the blind watchmaker they call it. It is
responsible for the subtle detailed forms life, technology,
language, the universe's composition etc. have taken. It
operates on the tiniest levels possible without effort,
something difficult for humans with their large clumsy
fingers. I really want to figure out a way to put the
process to use somehow, if it can create complicated humans,
I want to see what else it can do.

the only way to bend evolution to our will is to use a bit
of reverse psychology,... I'll explain : If you want a tough
human that can withstand any treatment,... make them grow up
in a really rough envoronment,.. eventually they will learn
to cope,.. but I guesswe could do the same thing's with
humans,... simply make it a matter of life or death, as to
whether they "solve this question or not" and so-on,..
 that's my opinion anyway

 | Every thing in this world is natural. if the word natural means 'of this earth' then every thing
from mushrooms to dishwashers to kermit the frog to
processed cheese is natural. Anything produced by humans
will always be 'human' even if it is proposed to to be
'robotic' or 'mechanical'. as long as it is produced by
 Humans, it is human.
excuse me if i'm wrong, but i don't believe that either
member of autechre are dishwashers or lawn mowers, and so
thier music will always be 'human' as that is what they are.

 | Yes, I had some banners before....a couple of months ago...in v3.

Maybe I'll add some...all those domains and accounts costs
me a lot of money...and I'm not sure I wanna do all this for
the rest of my life...but money helps.

 | I think banners would wreck the look of the site,... the only place it'd belong would prolly be on the main page, and
that's it,.. otherwise it'dd just be an ugly thing in the
 way,...
