i ate yo momma out on 2001-07-17 23:32 [#00016051]

why do so many people who like aphex twin also like
autechre? i fucking hate autechre. never speak of the two
in the same breath.

Aron? from Canada on 2001-07-18 01:08 [#00016059]

I like Richard James, but i'm not big on Autechre. They got
some OK stuff (LP5, EP7) I don't particularily like them
though.

ross on 2001-07-18 02:27 [#00016066]

i honestly didnt like them for the longest time, they did
nothing for me..then i sorta got into them..cant remember
how, but now i like them, not a lot, but most definitely
do..

D-Hex from KC Missouri on 2001-07-18 03:15 [#00016070]

Im the same, i have tri repetae and it just doesnt have any
character like all of richard's work.

|REFLEX| from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 2001-07-18 04:52 [#00016086]

Phh whatever hey.. you used those two words in one
sentence.. haha. Sucker. well yeah Autechre is amazing! more
complex than Aphex Twin, in a different way I suppose. Ive
got all the Autechre stuff.

D U S T from I O W A on 2001-07-18 06:25 [#00016097]

those of you who don't like autechre have you listened to
the progression in their music. do you not like the older
more albums or the newer more difficult or abstract works.
those of you who have heard amber as well as anything they
have put out in the three or four years would probably agree
that they have redefined their sound. Anyway, I would think
that if one likes aphex twin and appreciates his work and
evolution as an artist he would also respect their (ae's)
progression. also I really don't see how the can be heavily
compared. I could see the comparisons between mu-ziq and
aphex. such as mu-ziq'a lunatic harness and the richard d.
james album. I've always thought that autechre has a unique
understanding of space in their music that gives their music
a sound that is their own. what is the most important
record in the idm electronica scene to have come out thus
far? I think it is the richard d. james album. But my
personal favorite will always AE's amber. One can fill up
space or stretch it out when making a record. I always
loved and understood brian eno's ambient albums so I
instantly thought Autechre had hit a home run with Amber.
anyway I think neither aphex OR ae should be ignored.

cheers

fleckothegecko from confield on 2001-07-18 06:51 [#00016101]

i hated autechre for the longest time after i got into
RDJ... like 2 years. it pissed me off cause everybody kept
telling me i should get into autechre and i really COULDNT.
i dont know, the melodies were fake or something. it made no
connection wiht me whatsoever. i asked some autechre fans
what cd to try to start with and they all said "amber" or
"tri repetae" to tell you the truth, i have always thougth
and still think those albums are awful. therye boring, all
the tracks sound similar... ugh, they just suck. then
finally someone told me to try LP5. Acroyear2(first track)
got me interested, thought it was pretty decent. then
Rae(3rd track) did it. i was hooked for like 2 months. that
song is still one of the greatest songs thgat has ever
graced my ears. Rae and Pancake Lizard are the 2 most
beautiful melodies i have ever heard. well anyway, after
that i got EP7 and then confield. love all of them. i still
hate their older stuff but LP5 EP7 and confield ore awesome
in everyway. no bad points whatsoever.

You have to lack a human soul in order to appreciate the
superiority of autechre.

fleckothegecko from confield on 2001-07-18 07:01 [#00016108]

i sold my soul to my brother for a york peppermint patty.
its okay cause then i started collecting other sould in
various ways. got 14 now.

Wicked!

Mescaline from Cornwall (It's Joke!) on 2001-07-18 07:24 [#00016121]

Autechre do some weird stuff like Bass Cadet, Silverside,
Tear Tear and more.
If u don't like Autechre so z's your problem.

Phobiazero from Sweden on 2001-07-18 08:26 [#00016139]

Autechre/Gescom probably have releases that should satisfy
everyone who also likes Aphex Twin. You just need to find
them...and don't give up!

Check out Autechre.nu for samples...

rubbish john on 2001-07-18 08:43 [#00016150]

m....MwMw wwW(m M m)Www wMwM....m - what are you on about?

music = soul = music = soul

don't get me wrong - i think autechre are great, but if i
didn't have a soul....
you lot are fucked up.

Phobiazero from Sweden on 2001-07-18 08:52 [#00016152]

What do you mean? No soul in Autechre music?

rubbish john on 2001-07-18 09:01 [#00016155]

i never said that......
but that's what m....MwMw wwW(m M m)Www wMwM....m suggests
when he says "You have to lack a human soul in order to
appreciate the superiority of autechre"
soul is all important in the appreciation and production of
music.
m....MwMw wwW(m M m)Www wMwM....m - you suck.

Bn1 from New Zealand on 2001-07-18 10:57 [#00016186]

I've actually been listening to Inancabula (sp?) quite alot
recently, also EP7.1 and .2. I think their music still has
character, its just a different character to aphex's music.

Tek from Australia on 2001-07-18 12:50 [#00016222]

I'm probably *one* of the biggest autechre's fans,... I have
ALL of their releases either on cd or mp3 (with the
exception of 17 of the gescom minidisc tracks,.. but I'll
have all 88 one day!!!)
and I also have almost everything aphex,... and what I'm
about to say is going to hurt,..

I beleive that autechre is better than aphex,.. now we can
all go on about the "you can't compare two completely
different types of music" point,... but away from that,... I
think that aphex is just good at what he does,... Autechre
though,.. is something else,... to the point where it's no
longer music and more of an experience,.. very few aphex
tracks have ever acheived this,... but almost everything of
autechre manages to strike home,...

this is just my opinion,... so none bite my head off ok?
@:<)>

Phobiazero from Sweden on 2001-07-18 12:55 [#00016225]

Am I bigger since I've got your missing 17 tracks? :-)

Tek from Australia on 2001-07-18 13:07 [#00016227]

DAMN YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ermmmm,,... could you send me a few : )
{joking}

--

you would be the biger fan seeing as you dedicated an entire
site to them,...
and also you are probably the sole reason that they have as
much recognition around here as they do,.. you've bought the
domain name,... and taken many of your hours to ensure that
everything is up to date and recent,... I salute you,..

P.S. when should I expect aphextwin.nu v5 and updates on
autechre.nu,... (P.S.S. I like the "show all albums on the
one page" function you added to the explore section,... you
might wanna do the same with the sinlges,.. keep up the good
work :))

Phobiazero from Sweden on 2001-07-18 14:00 [#00016261]

Mescaline from Snickers (not Mars) on 2001-07-18 14:48 [#00016321]

Autechre must be called (in 2 letters abb.) Au , not Ae.
And about Phobiazero's site. I'll be on your new versions,
like in all others.

P.S. (:-|)i'm apologise for my poor English.

Phobiazero from Sweden on 2001-07-18 14:57 [#00016327]

Ae = correct

Au = incorrect

Mescaline from Snickers (not Mars) on 2001-07-18 15:51 [#00016352]

U don't understand
Au - means Aurum (gold in Latin Language), Autechre make
gold music
so their must be called Au!
:-))))

Mescaline from Snickers (not Mars) on 2001-07-18 15:53 [#00016353]

It's only joke Phobia....
Not pay any attentions to this :-0

m....MwMw wwW(m M m)Www wMwM....m on 2001-07-18 21:06 [#00016408]

I just think it's music for cyborgs and dishwashers and
such. I don't care if you think I suck because I think the
same thing.

Tek from Australia on 2001-07-19 01:42 [#00016423]

you mean you're not a cyborg?

m....MwMw wwW(m M m)Www wMwM....m on 2001-07-19 08:08 [#00016452]

No, no, I'm a dishwasher. That's why I like autechre so
much. I'm a mechanical machine, that's what autechre is
about. Actually, there is no such thing as a soul, unless
someone can point out where it exists in the human anatomy,
next to the kidneys or something...
I said it lacks soul though and meant that the music of
autechre lacks anthropomorphic qualities. It leaves the
human viewpoint, and enters the mind of technology. It's not
human friendly, unless you are a mathematician or one
interested in the process of evolution or something. It is
purely logical. I REALLY like it though, I certainly wasn't
dissing their music. Maybe you were offended at the thought
of lacking a soul yourself? Things I say are subjective. I
don't believe in souls, I just used that word as a metaphor.

Tek from Australia on 2001-07-19 08:15 [#00016453]

ahh,.. It's good to see a fellow machine on thins
massageboard,... and on the topic of evolution,.. can anyone
remember what "m's" name has looked like all through It's
evolution?

see if anyone can remember all the different combo's :-)

m....MwMw wwW(m M m)Www wMwM....m on 2001-07-19 08:30 [#00016456]

Evolution is the single most interesting process that I am
aware of. It is capable of creating absolutely insane
complicated things, the blind watchmaker they call it. It is
responsible for the subtle detailed forms life, technology,
language, the universe's composition etc. have taken. It
operates on the tiniest levels possible without effort,
something difficult for humans with their large clumsy
fingers. I really want to figure out a way to put the
process to use somehow, if it can create complicated humans,
I want to see what else it can do.

Mescaline on 2001-07-19 08:32 [#00016457]

Yeah, and i'm just posthuman mechanical artifactial
xenomorph constructed for assault and exploration

m....MwMw wwW(m M m)Www wMwM....m on 2001-07-19 08:34 [#00016459]

Your theme song must be far more interesting than my
dishwasher theme song.

Tek from Australia on 2001-07-19 09:12 [#00016467]

hehehe,...

the only way to bend evolution to our will is to use a bit
of reverse psychology,... I'll explain : If you want a tough
human that can withstand any treatment,... make them grow up
in a really rough envoronment,.. eventually they will learn
to cope,.. but I guesswe could do the same thing's with
humans,... simply make it a matter of life or death, as to
whether they "solve this question or not" and so-on,..
that's my opinion anyway

anyone wanna hear my cyborg theme song?

m....MwMw wwW(m M m)Www wMwM....m on 2001-07-19 09:15 [#00016468]

I'm confused. heh heh heh.

Dr. Daisyland on 2001-07-19 09:56 [#00016482]

Every thing in this world is natural.
if the word natural means 'of this earth' then every thing
from mushrooms to dishwashers to kermit the frog to
processed cheese is natural. Anything produced by humans
will always be 'human' even if it is proposed to to be
'robotic' or 'mechanical'. as long as it is produced by
Humans, it is human.
excuse me if i'm wrong, but i don't believe that either
member of autechre are dishwashers or lawn mowers, and so
thier music will always be 'human' as that is what they are.

Tek from Australia on 2001-07-19 10:03 [#00016483]

It's funny how the duo have completely different opinions
about things when doing interview,... I find their antics
and stuffing about very funny

Dirty Priest from Denmark on 2001-07-19 11:36 [#00016522]

I cant belive Phobiazero is doing all this, and not making
any money from it!

how about putting on some links that will pay you some money
everytime someone presses them. then we could all agree to
press that link everytime we go to the site! wouldnt you
like that shit!?

Phobiazero from Sweden on 2001-07-19 12:27 [#00016531]

Yes, I had some banners before....a couple of months
ago...in v3.

Maybe I'll add some...all those domains and accounts costs
me a lot of money...and I'm not sure I wanna do all this for
the rest of my life...but money helps.

Mescaline on 2001-07-19 12:59 [#00016536]

My song?? Maybe "eggshell" from incunabula, or something
like Tiny Toon's Music :-))) La-la-la :-)).

Hey Phobiazero maybe u need help with money or somethig
more?

Tek from Australia on 2001-07-19 13:15 [#00016539]

I think banners would wreck the look of the site,... the
only place it'd belong would prolly be on the main page, and
that's it,.. otherwise it'dd just be an ugly thing in the
way,...
