i know that this has been asked before, but does domebody
actually know where i could the number of copies that have
been sold by idm artists? does such a place exist? im just
curious...

all ive heard is people saying "ive heard that afx/ae have
sold X copies of X albums". but i dont know if such
statements are 'valid'.

thanks for the help.

i always get the impression that the labels "try" to keep
that hidden or confidential, as if they do not want the
people to know the numbers.

Afx twin has sold 1021 copies of drukqs. Incidentally half
of these float in and out of used stores.
Plaid Double figure sold 1000000 copies cause it is so much
better than Drukqs. Same with confield. That one sold
2000000 copies. Geogaddi transcends any of this linear
thoughtscapey stuff, and just materializes in people cd
players, at the same time $20 dissapears from their wallets.

Go Plastic sole 2057 copies cause its just about twice as
good as drukqs, but not much more.

The numbers have actually stopped growing now, cause people
have stopped buying warp releases, cause warp be too trendy.

Nowadays warp makes all their money through osmosis, and any
warp cd you think you are buying has actually been published
and distributed by a label called "seinior flutentauts lost
12cent chain". It only looks like the warp symbol because
you guys aren't paying attention.

Yah I also am hearing that this "druqks" thing hasn't caught
on with too many of the hardcore druggies yet.

Plus druqks have been banned in many countries. . .
including Richard's own, Britian, and all of North America.
;_;

Windowlicker sold 300,000 copies. I think Drukqs
would have easily matched that (it would only have to sell
150,000 since it's a double).

For perspective, moby's play sold 2,000,000+ copies in the
US alone.

Drukqs actually went platinum. In the UK.

Of corse, those UKers will give any artist that manages to
sell ten discs in the us a platinum.

Back in 2000, almost a year after it's release, Windowlicker
was still moving between 100-200 copies a week in the US.

I doubt very many electronic music albums have sold 1000000
plus, with the vast majority selling in the tens of
thousands and a few notables selling over 100,000.

The Come To Daddy EP was (is) Aphex Twin's best selling
single yet.

id rather ditch all his cds in some mexico desert like they
did that E.T. Atari game cartrige LOL!

for albums

uk platinum = 300,000
uk gold = 100,000
uk silver = 60,000

for singles

uk platinum = 600,000
uk gold = 400,000
uk silver = 200,000

there has been a new ruling this week regarding sales of
mid-price (i.e.on the cheap) that they now count towards the
awards. before this week they didn't. also, any album in the
uk costing less that 6 pounds has to sell double the figure
to qualify for the award.

play by moby is 5x platinum so thats sold 5 x 300,000
(minimum) which is 1.5m

also a quick note - the awards actually count pre-sales not
actual sales, i.e., the number of copies bought in by the
shops rather than what they've sold

hope this helps

Cabbog: Like a million or so of them. Head down there right
now with a shovel and pick wish one you want. No gaurentees
it will work.

The story goes like this that back in the day ET didn't sell
so well (they, Atari, got a huge huge backlog of unsold ET
games) and I believe at that time the videogame crash came
about so no one was buying. So to get rid of them they took
them down to the desert in mexico and burried them.

Something like that. I forget the whole story. Its one of
the worst made games in history apparently.

for male solo artist of the year at the brit awards after
its release...and it was not banned here!

except maybe slodgechops.....

I wouldnt really take anything being said about sales on

According to the Scandinavian distributor of Warp, Music has
the right sold over 100.000. There has been threads like
this before, where a guy claimed RDJ to be the most sold
AFX-album with 130.000
