when you hear about an artist you like, you buy (or
download) an album. if you find that album to be good, you
buy another one. if that album is also good, you continue
buying more albums from the same artist and so on until you
possess everything they made, like an obsessed lunatic?

it happened to me with aphex, ae, squarepusher, and many
more before.

is this normal? am i dangerous?!!

cut off your penis and place it in a jar! If it dosn't grow
pour ammonia on it, if it does scrape off the skin and feed
it to a retarded salamander. After completing these tasks
shave your head and cluck 3,000 times. You will then receive
an answer to your query!

yes, I do that man... I bought my first Aphex Twin album
(well, first IDM album) last august, and now I own 8 Aphex
Twin albums, 3 Boards of Canada albums, and three Autechre
albums... oh, and some Orbital, and a Jega album... I always
do that, but it's also with genres of music... I did it with
Electronica, and a bit for World Music... oh, and a bit for
jazz too... :)

really? Joey asked who she was and said she was ugly...
she's from the movie The Last Starfighter which was on last
night, and I think she's pretty hot!! I love brunettes...

yeah, i do the same thing. I have about 40 Pat Metheny/Pat
Metheny Group/Lyle Mays albums, as well as about 10 or so
aphex albums, 5 or so autechre, and 3 boards of canada, and
now I am going to go into my squarepusher phase. joe

40 albums by a single artist! you should apply for that
guiness book of world records thing!

them you buy their album...what other way is there? gez

thing is, cortex, that I am missing some of his albums. and
I know some folks who have 400+ bootlegs of Pat Metheny-Pat
Metheny Group. You must know Metheny, after all, you do
hang tough in montreal all the time, if I understand
correctly.

but i meant you buy all their albums. for instance, if
youre starting to get into pink floyd, you end up buying all
of their 15+ albums. geez.

he has made and recently bought Powerpill Pacman for 125
dollars...a lot of money.

400 bootlegs, that's just insane! i do know a little about
metheny, but ive never actually listened to album
completely.

and yeah, i do go to montreal from time to time, but mostly
for business or to *sigh* shop with my girlfriend on
ste-catherine... so i dont really know what the music scene
looks like over there...

last time i went to montreal, the canadiens were playing
carolina and people were just hockey crazy! GO HABS GO!
but they got eliminated, calissssssse!

afxnumb, yeah, i wasnt sure you knew what i meant. thing
is, i dont know anyone (a real, palpable person) that was so
'obsessed' with an artist that they actually bought
everything he made. but yeah, let's keep it at that.

geez!!

;)

I don't think I've ever bought anything exclusively of one
artist all at once. My money and the time I buy new cds is
usually a bit spread out so when I go cd shopping I normally
buy a mix of different artists and/or genres.. This has only
become more true with the expansion of my tastes into Jazz
and blues and classical.. so yeah.. there's simply too much
out there to restrict my money to one thing.. I'm a music
whore.

I think when I was first getting into music as a whole I may
have started buying only beatles albums but I certainly
didn't (and still don't) have EVERY single album of theirs.

I would probably have gotten all of Radiohead's albums if I
had gotten into them fairly late (seeing as they only have
about 5 albums now from a span of almost 10 years) but I
didn't so.. EAT ME!!

I pee in your bird bath for asking such questions. *pees*

Its not everything he made just on cd...and one vinyl...yet
i have no record player...once i get one though i gotta
start working on the vinyl.

vinyl.. damn, that's a sound you simply can't replace.. damn
cd players!

I wish I had an old record player myself.. but I have no
vinyl yet so, it probably doesn't make sense to have one.
Yeah. SToof.

i know what you mean. but do what i did, buy a reasonably
cheap record player for the moment to play those vinyl-only
releases, it's really worth it.

i´m exactly like this Cortex. it´s like some sorta vice,
once i hear something i like, i got to have it all....it´s
preety bad....like an addiction.
It´s happened to me with u-Ziq, AFX, Autechre, and other
stuff like Herbaliser, The Roots, Blackalicious,
Shadow.......i could go on forever....

so i guess either i´m a freak too, or it´s a common
syndrome.
