Erk, i've read the guides and they all say 'put on no
pressure!!!' but I put it in and it kinda goes in but its
not quite properly and rocks from corner to corner

needs a bit of brute force?

you mean inserting the cpu into the socket ???

it MUST fit without presure.
there`s a square on one side, be sure you hit the right side
....

Socket A?
I had to use a screwdriver to get that clasp thing to
connect properly.

well i only did it once. i also thought it would be heavy
but it wasn`t. the chip just slipped into. when it doesn`t
fit i can just tell you to check if you got the right
socket/cpu .....

how do you test an Athlons temperature?

offline Sepix from Major City (Austria) on 2002-05-22 22:56 [#00230567]

ahja - try the SOFTWARE cooler - called VCool. it helps you
save your cpu and, of course, saving money.

vcool appears in the system tray and shows cpu as well as
hardcase temperature ;)

DONT PUT ANY PRESSURE ON IT! I SNAPPED A CELERON 600 AS A
RESULT!

Make sure you get a BIG BIG ass fan to go on it. A Cooler
Master or something, factory fans work good buy after market
high-performance fans work better.

And your BIOS is the best way to check temp.

haha, a bit late there Ctrl.... =)

As for fans and heatsinks, i'm getting the Globalwin CBK-58

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_CPU
_Coolers_2.html

its supposed to be pretty good.

And also, whats better to go between them, a Shim or Thermal
Paste?
