SQUAREPUSHER: i wish TO talk

what can I say....? Aside from RDJ, he just does it all
hypercorrectly and takes you beyond the beyond.

Whats next?...There's bound to be something out soon. A MEN
thing surely? Remember 'Red Hot Car'? More than a garage
parody...it was parody from the point of view of something
wholey alien.. and made you think "FUCK every garage track
that WAS ever made or is ever gonna BE made... its been done
by Tom, twisted and spat back out atcha". We should have a
Squarepusher aprecciation thon, day, whatever!!

and 'untitled'?.. you know

Word! I'm just waiting for some new stuff. Earlier Warp used
to have these "updates" where they told us what the artists
did from time to time, and when we could expect releases. I
wish they could do that now...

i downloaded some live tracks, go spastic and some others,
fucking cool intro's and hyper non-static effects layered
over snarerushes, how did he work live ?

dunno but it looked like he just had some kinda midi control
set-up (protools?).and seemed to just decide, on the fly -
'this snare-rush is gonna extend about 20 seconds longer
than usual'.......it was his energy and he'd look into the
crowd's souls, turn a knob and send each soul into a David
Fincher -esque rollercoater ride in n-dimensional
space!!!.do ya get me people!!!
near the end, i was fucked and shouted up 'i'm the fucking
daddy'..........after that all i heard was BEARM BEARM BEARM
BEARMMMMMM......guess the tune!
(i wished i shouted up 'beep street' instead)

Agreed...

And I think AFX really needed the kick that Tom J gave him
creatively...I think the pair of em need each other in a way
(altho I guess neither would like to admit it...)...

Wish the fucker still lived here tho...would be cool to
stalk, *cough*, bump into him...;)..

if untitled/wap155 is anything like what he's working on
now, we have a lot to look forward to..

this is so different from what I initially liked with
squarepusher, and yet so good. he's a master at renewing his
sound.

but I can't understand why people call it garage

Well "red hot car" has this garage-sound. I don't know if
it's ironic or what. But it's goood...

found an interview with him yesterday from Februrary 1996 in
NME.

Should I upload it, it's quite interesting.

Young pup, Squarepusher (21) about to release albums for
Rephlex/Warp...

Squarepusher is the greatest electronic artist with the
exception of RDJ. His albums have been growing on me for
the last year and I have been recently listening to him more
than ANYTHING else. His music totally fucks my mind, in a
totally different way then Aphex's. I would fucking love to
hear him live...

go for it Phatbert

oh yeah...i see in 'The Wire' backissues that squarepusher
did an invisible jukebox (they play him a dozen tunes and he
guess/comments on them)..That i would like to read too!

i travelled to
Sonar last year to specifically see him live....and he
cancelled!

Luckily i saw him in dublin 4 days before!

why'd he cancel? Wasn't arsed on the night i heard. Respect.
(RDJ did the job though)
