I don't care what anyone says, soft cell rocks. Most songs
are absolutely brilliant! And the original version of
frustration is incredibly intense!

"Sex Dwarf" is a classic....in fact,the debut album is/was
the shit. "Sex Dwarf, isn't it nice, luring disco
dollies to a life of vice."Great. }:>

hahaha Right on!
I love these lyrics: "I've got no address, just a telephone
number. Phone me tonight and maybe we can talk dirty!" :)
Any record with that line of lyrics deserves a two thumbs
up!

i'm listening to 2 Live crew....I can't believe how bad
these lyrics are, I mean, I now they were notorious but some
are completely homophobic

Manson's cover of Tainted Love sucks.
Coil's version is cool though. :)

hahahha :)
I can dig some Manson stuff--the early stuff (marilyn manson
and the spooky kids) through AntiChrist superstar.
But since he's decided to work with Slipknot, I want nothing
to do with him. I hate Slipknot with every fiber of my
being!

I love Marc Almond!
Soft Cell's tracks had it all: simple, gloomy, electronic
music with twisted, lewd, or otherwise demented lyrics.
Perfect!

hmm..interesting fact...

quote

It was 1981's "Tainted Love," that brought the duo to
international prominence; written by the Four Preps' Ed Cobb
and already a cult favorite thanks to Gloria Jones' soulful
reading, the song was reinvented as a hypnotic electronic
dirge which became the year's best-selling British single,
as well as a major hit abroad.

unquote

I am kinda curious about the original original now...

I've heard the original... it's not at all like Soft Cell's
version.

Yes--I love Martin :)

It's kinda...I don't remember it very well. I'm pretty sure
it was like a '60s Motown sorta thing. but lounge jazz
thing is probably accurate too!

wow..I just saw a Skinny Puppy version of tainted love..on
there..never knew it existed..I got it qeued..and there's a
Gloria Jones one there too..but there's like 297 bastards in
line ahead of me..

The SKinny Puppy version is probably a mislabeled Coil
version. :(

not..it isnt..Sounds like early Skuppy..that's definetly
Ogre..on there...dont know if I like it yet..

hmm..just finished listened to the whole thing...it's rather
disposable..I dont hate it..vocals are nice..a deep bassy
one offsetting Ogre going nuts in the back..the music is
nice and suitably minimal electro but it's totally spoiled
by a chugging distorted guitar carrying the rhythm through
out...not as bad as Manson..but still..like I said..it
misses the point of the song....hence disposable..
