i think biosphere influenced them
they all come from this small town in northern norway
but royksopp's music involves much more drum and bass beats

Biosphere's 'The Shield' is fucking awesome, with the HAL
samples etc. I have two CDs, Microgravity and Patashnik. Get
Patashnik. I used to listen to it non-stop in 96.

BIOSPHERE & HIGHER INTELLIGENCE AGENCY: POLAR SEQUENCES,
heres an explanation of the album: Tromso, 70 degrees
north, in the Arctic region, in the middle of the most
active northern lights zone. In summer time, land of the
midnight sun. In winter, total darkness.

In October 1995, as part of the annual Polar Music Festival,
Geir Jenssen of Biosphere and Bobby Bird of The Higher
Intelligence Agency, were commissioned by Nor Concerts to
collaborate together on a musical project to take place in
Geir's home town of Tromso, Norway. The brief was for them
to perform three concerts, using sounds sourced from the
area as the basis of the music - the machinery of the local
mountain cable lift, the snow, the ice etc...

The performances from which this recording is taken, took
place on top of a mountain above Tromso, in a cabin reached
by the cable car, in which the audience were transported up
the mountain in turn.

This show would have been amazing, listening to some crazy
good ambient in the mountains under the most active northern
lights.

THIS ALBUM KICKS SAW II's ass this is some really trippy
scary cold sounding ambient, the best ambient album i've
every heard!!!

REFLEX: Hopefully, you'll get your Novelty Waves EP pretty
soon..top stuff.

I love that "i had a dream last night.....it was the same
dream" sample. creepy as hell! (it's on the Panashnik
album)

I saw him live once, and he had this really intense strobe
light flashing at us. i had to look away' cause the nerves
in my eyes were fucked up.

I just got Substrata 2 last month, it's very good. It's not
rare at all, but has only been released in the UK so far.

I thought it was curious the same extended Twin Peaks sample
was used on both Substrata and Man With A Movie Camera.

I'd recommend this album and Patashnik without hesitation...
