 | been playing some games lately, grown up with big n´s creations only,
i did kind of miss out on some sega gems.
i know epic is raving about sonic and im gettin into it
since i have it running at the correct resolution. currently
also playing blades of vengeance. a slightly horrific
fantasy action game with just the right setting for the
season. tried contra hard corps, but i need some chemical
vitamins to keep up with the pace of this one.
anyway skimming through some roms i couldnt help but be
amazed at the synth sound of the games, you know that pitch
bending note sliding metallic sounds. love that.

 | I was pretty much a computer gamer right out the womb but we did have a genesis.

the games I mostly played were mortal kombat 1 (1 was better
on genesis, the rest on SNES), road rash, toejam and earl,
 and sonic 1.
 Oh, and sonic pinball.

Toejam and earl was my favorite of those as a game, but
sonic 1 probably has the best soundtrack to any game ever.
It still sounds completely unique, especially the doctor
 robotnic themes.

 | one thing i havent been able to overcome in sonic is losing all rings on touch, feels so weird, but its a fun game, as
you say the music is pretty damn good and unique as is
 overall gamedesign.

ran toejam and earls start scrreen and demo yesterday before
going to sleep. i ve seen the characters on pictures but i
had no idea it was acid in cartridge form.
gotta get back to this one...

 | gargoyles looks great too. if only el viento and alien 3 were decent games,
cause the music is just incredible.

 | Sonic 1 was like a perfect 10 in music and aesthetic design and like a 5/10 in gameplay. The rings were a part of the
 problem, yeah.

I think I was just spoiled by Mario as far as platformers
go. Mario 3 was my favorite, and world, but even in 1985 the
first one handled (control wise), better than any other
platformer I played as a kid. (others I remember trying: Kid
Chameleon, Earthworm Jim, Mega man. I don't count Metroid,
 it's its own thing).

Sonic just didn't play as well as Mario and I knew it in my
 bones.

It wasn't till Super Meat Boy in like 2010 that I found
another 2d platformer that I liked as much.

 | i dunno, sonic 1 had losing yr rings as part of the gameplay, holding on for 50+ to get to the special stage was
part of the charm. sonic 2 and sonic 3+knuckles made the
special stages more integral to "winning" in the end, sonic
1 was more built for speedruns. i prefer 2 and 3+K too, but
the music is superb in all 3 games

 | started some more games yesterday in demo mode, just to run along going to bed.. when all of a sudden:

Mutant League Football on Sega Genesis came out as a total
banger and i thought that sounds like some badass rock riffs
 in AM/FM.
And reminds me of the amazing Black Knight Pinball sound.
Intro credtits showed Brian Schmitt actually Brian L.
 Schmidt.
His friends prolly call him Schmittie if you know him.
 Anyway...
Already ripped some of his Pinball compositions from Virtual
 Pinball.
Virtual Pinball really doesnt play that great, but you can
run any real rom the virtually any existing pinball machine
on the planet and get a clean rip of its sound and music.
and that what i did some years ago and listened to those
 tracks everywhere.

so, heres to great AM FM Synthesis programmer and composer
Brian Schmidt, along Dan Forden. They´re stunners.

 | heres some great pinball music for 30 days only, grab em now or regret it later.
most of those files were originally 15 second snippets
ripped from aforementioned V-Pin Software to play
according to your advancement in the game.
i glued them together as how i imagined them to be
 as complete songs.
 ENJOY
 May the composers forgive me.
