it's actually funny. that really what i got into was, actually, exactly how i kind of get with texture in music. this graphic print hoodie is loud but with black pants, backpack, backpack strap, bandolier, it starts to feel like a background wash in watercolor. and which gloves go with this? that i was absolutely aware this was odd. that, like, i dunno, i spent the last two years of my life in what look like hospital scrubs, i've lost a bunch of weight, and, you know, all this weird shit won't fit no more if i don't stay that way? what's actually startling to me is how much other people seem to care. it actually kind of blows my mind. i'm here having a goof for myself and i'm not expecting anyone to particularly understand. but it genuinely seems to make people mad, if you go past a point. how dare you not do as the other monkeys do. it's as if you up and slapped them in the face. again, this blows my mind. my first reaction was: alright, i'll tone it down a bit. and then i did. my second reaction was: you know what, no, fuck you... and it's, actually, been a remarkably interesting people filter. that, actually, before i hit that point -- when i was still trying to figure out what the fuck -- guy at the store like, "i respect what you're doing so much man, like, fuck people and their opinions" but i hadn't even gotten that far yet. but i'm there now |
