 | Xltronic actually died like 9 years ago and those who are left come here for a minute to feed on its corpose like
 worms

Where do you really go, when you sit on your computer?

me sadly I'm on reddit looking and pcgame news and
psychedelics. I like the autechre subreddit more than
xltronic too, which is lame. |You can actually discuss a
 track.

At almost 38 years old, I started watching some twitch. I
found a good streamer named quin69 who plays my current
favorite game (Path of Exile). He was a big name for making
builds in diablo 3 and he's pretty fun to watch, not woke or
 annoying.

I avoid the news, twitter, facebooks and the rest.

 Where do you go?

P.S. I googled xltronic discord invite but all the links
were expired i'm not cool enough to join really, cause I'm
 not british.

 | if anyone wants to talk about an autechre track i'm here for you baby

all end (on NTS 4) might be my favorite tune of theirs now.
I don't revise favorites casually, prior to this I'd have
said Sim Gishel (2001) or Dial (2002). I wrote it off as
"yeah sounds like Tim Hecker" the first time I heard it, but
I listened to it on acid and it changed everything. It's a
digitial soup of tiny sounds, their most genertive, digital
sounding shit in ages (probably since lentic catachresis on
confield). I rode on the back of a sleek, truly giant white
turtle that was being laser printed in the distance for an
hour listening to this on LSD, it was fantastically epic.

Had not heard of limmy, but checked out some of his clips

Mostly I just watch path of exile stuff in the background
while playing myself. It's sort of like having a pretend

 | i have all reply notifications turned off on all online platforms. i scream into the void and when the void attempts
to scream back, it's screams fall silent upon me. the
internet is now for normies and therefore of little interest
to me. it's only a vessel for me to mock them, which can be
 done on any website.

though i'm glad that the very nature of this website and
it's content is normie repellent. so it may be dead, but one
of the few reasons i've come back to it lately and dabble
with it here & there is that it is one of the last untainted
pockets of the internet. it still feels like 1999 in here,
 so party like it.

 | i guess it's like... i have plenty of people to talk about with things, even in person should i so feel, but there are
certain things i just can't take nowhere else.

like how, i dunno, 2007 or something i'm in the shower, and
i'm playing back "future proof" by massif attax in my hed
and i'd been told by, like, the waxploitation dude, if you
want the the $$, it's in getting your trax licensed in ads,
and the opening to future proof is just supa-cleva lookit
 that smirnoff ad

that alone, was, well, dead accurate, and a lot to digest.
but then it's two or three years later, and i'm listening it
in my hed in the shower, and i realize: the intro is good
but the rest is even more clever

the first couple minutes of the song is a slow, snoozy rize.
like, if you press down on one of your hands with the other
for a bit, then stop, it floats up. you're floating up and
 up. future proof

 but nothing is, nothing is

and then the slowrize runs out of steam. you're almost still
for a moment. you slowly start to fall

you're plummeting. you're hitting terminal velocity and
starting to catch on fire. you're starting to spin and
 gyrate and hurl and

fuck me this guitar solo buried in here is fucking good and

...fwoomp, 3:38, a heap of slag buries itself in the dirt in
 kazakhstan

that this is about the doomed nature of assuming you can
completely future-proof anything. the slowrize, the plummet.
i like afx a lot but i'm not sure he ever did anything this
 clever.

and, i dunno, my cow-orkers are smart chaps, but i can't
really walk this one over to them

 | ...shoot, yeah, the intro itself. very solid statement of intent in the context of what i've just described. simple
boop. boopboo and it's, subjectively, multiplying off
itself, the spiral of reflections becoming harder and harder
to follow. makes total sense give my take on the overall
 structure of the song

 | thinking on it, the best afx tracks have some sort of direction to them. nannou was about someone, windowlicker
was a sendup [or so he claim], crying in your face just some
emotion; no context provided. but still quite clear. then,
wait, what happened? it's like the tetris effect, but i'm
 hallucinating jokey virus names

that some of his best have been when he's in a mood [crying
in your face] and that some of the better ones are kind of
just synesthetic candy [canticle drawl, that is like licking
a 9v battery. the taste mostly]

but i struggle to think of a moment when... i dunno. the
great man himself actually had a serious point to make,
rather than a vibe to communicate, or a cool trick to show
off. when i make music, i'm mostly just enjoying myself, and
i figure he is too. but i look at future proof and it's kind
of like... huh. this is very, very deliberately structured.
it has a point to make, and it makes it brilliantly. but
actually in a very very sneaky way

i suppose it's just impressive to me how effectively someone
was able to make a philosophical point with some synths and
drugs and guitar noise and paranoia.

 | [spoiler alert for video linked in previous post -- beware!]

actually, really, i feel that's close to what i'd like to
 do, generally:

 1) vinyl cop comedian has been left with the piano
unattended and rightly decides to play something as
flagrantly terrible as he can on ray manzarik's personal,
daily-driver piano. in deliberate anticipation of being
 caught by ray manzarik

 2) ray manzarik catches him [as planned] and shoos him
aside, saying: "wait, wait, i think i hear something in
 this"

 3) by ear, he more or less manages to faithfully replay
vinyl cop comedian's keysmashing, then it's like he does a
 crossfade into "light my fire"

vinyl cop comedian, you wouldn't know because ray is killing
it and you're watching him... but, shit, now what?

 4) yours was nice, but it was a bit derative

ray's face. lol. he'd just sent it right back but he wasn't
expecting the guy to reorganize and come back again

in any case, seems quite a perfect gentlemen. funny, sorted,
 situationally aware. taking notes

 | how on earth did the cop exactly replay his derivate?1 he either practiced this beforehand or insisted on replaying

wait, what? he was just smashing around? and manzarik sat
down, replayed his recent few arbitrary smashes from memory
and then crossfaded into light my fire

the cop's was crap... but, maybe this is what you mean: i
give it 50/50 that was all improvised. if it was, manzarik
was off for a smoke or a coffee for 20 minutes and the cop
got bored and thot, "i'll just make terrible noise so he
comes back." this feels utterly realistic.

equally realistic is, well, i doubt rehearse, but they
worked up the scenario beforehand: can we, like, have you
interrupt me abusing your piano? and ray's all: sure, yeah,
i'll just go off for a bit and when i hear like it's about
the moment i'll come back and react. then he goes off for a
smoke or a coffee and thinks about how he'll react

i was never some massive doors fan. in fact, i really knew
about jim morrison; saw the val kilmer transition movie,
etc. and i knew his name and he was the keyboardist but that
was pretty much it. when i died, i actually thought: it's
that wonderful man from that youtube video i always wanted
to meet him after seeing that. i'd probably feel it on the
music if i knew it better, but, no, that vid's actually why
i was sad when he died. and also surprised -- he seems so
sharp and with it; young almost. you don't expect someone
like that to just go anytime soon

 sorry mermaidman. sometimes it's just an oddly deep topic;
i've wandered in without even realizing. and now i'm stuck
 here. dedicated. writing

 | I've read all the responses and EpicMegatrax poops. I have nothing to add.

Instead I'm going to use to this space to talk about "The
 British."

I don't know what it is but you guys really make the best
music. Autechre? Aphex? Pink fucking Floyd? Burial etc Why
is this? Maybe because it seems like you guys have access to
good psychedelics. If you do your research, in interviews
everyone of those artists cites them as a reference.

I have never ever really enjoyed a female rapper before in
my life. Rap should be hard as fuck, and women aren't hard.
Until I found this british chick Shygirl. Fuck MF DOOM,
motherfucker was soft as hell. It's shygirl for me.

 This track is banging.

 Shygirl- BDE

 | The "Slowthai" guy that comes in towards the end of the track fucks it up with his annoying chav flow. Leave it to
Shygirl to bring the heat on this one.

 | This is the hardest rap I have ever heard in my life.

Brotha Lynch Hung's verse on Doomsday Productions- Black
 Market (1994).

 | Hardest track could also be Lynch's verse on Ruff and Rugged with Sicx. Recorded 1992.

Sicx is a convicted pedophile serving life in prison now.
Lynch is reformed heroin addict. These are not good things,
but to be hard you cannot be good.

 | to be clear, I recognize how ugly those tracks are. But good rap should be funky, and it should be ugly. Softness is not
a virtue in rap. I'll smoke some DMT and listen to Brian
Eno to feel the love the rest of the time

I love trees, and the moon, and you, zilty people. See you
 on discord.
