listening now, sort of reminds me of matmos, never a bad
thing

Hm, now that you mention it some of the sound design is
pretty Matmos-y. Bursts of hiss and guttural blomps, voice
glicks and beep snockets.

enjoyed that a lot - dunno really what to compare it to
which is usually a good sign, that or i'm horribly out of
the loop with this stuff. nice live-sounding bass drum/throb
cutting into the loops and grinding, clunking, creaking
stuff, will be playing this again i think

thought it was a bit wanky at first then the title track
came on and it was fantastic. thanks for the rec.

It's not on Bandcamp, it's only half electronic, but I did
just hear this on the radio and had to look it up and play
it over again repeatedly;

Lea Porcelain - Gotta Run

"What I couldn't keep for myself, you're free to give it
to someone else"

That's pretty good, they have a vevo and I watched the video
for that song, seems to be about a fellow who'd like to date
the Lord.

If you fellas liked the Yves De Mey, this one isn't news but
it's sort of along the same lines as his more beat driven
tracks - Lee Gamble - Mnestic Pressure - took a while to grow on me but now
I think it's one of the top releases of 2017

this is wicked, i love the field-recorded (?) samples and
the way he uses negative space in the rhythms. peeps comes
up trumps again

I checked out a couple of interviews with him, he talks
about removing the drums from jungle and seeing if there's
still some essence of jungle there, which is a cool idea,
reminds me of Brian Eno's oblique strategy card that says
"remove the most important element"

this one is also cool, especially at the end where he
talks about how music software makes assumptions and
suggestions about what you want to do

yeah that was interesting, i've done similar things in
wavelab just chopping out all the dialogue from films /
radio bits and bobs, finding interesting stuff in spaces
between words. breathy gurgly goodness. i think track 3 is
my favourite at the moment, pretty sure i can hear samples
from jega - dmc (live version) in there

Yeah the best stuff happens in liminal spaces. Was digging
into his back catalogue, this is the release where
he cuts up jungle and rave.

Think you're right about the Jega, either that or they're
using the same sample sources

A bit pricey for a digital album, but man, it's one of the
albums of the year for sure. The year being, of course,
1981.
