The Root of Violence

violence is many things, but simply put, it is one the many
ways we can react to negative emotions--sadness, anger,
rage, fear, etc.--or any sort of conflict.

I agree. Freud was a little loony. but it's pretty obvious
that we as humans try to suppress our animal needs in order
to be "proper." without some healthy expression of these
feelings, it seems to me that they could all come out at
once in a rage of primal fury.

GRROOOWWLWLLL!

i agree with that, jupitah, but it is not the whole thing. in
europe we have really fewer people get killed and this is a
result of the fact that there are fewer weapons. some people
sometimes loose control and with a knife it's hard to make a
massacre (i read the orther post yesterday where a guy
almost killed the brother of raimons-> imagine he had a
gun)
of course, the lack of weapons doesn't lower the potential
of violence but it simplys lowers the risk of getting shot.

i was reading my friends psych textbook the other day in
search of a popular pschological standpoint on violence.
frued is mentioned an awful lot. his disciples that left
him got a paragraph each in the whole book. jung had a more
mature and unbiased standpoint than frued ever did.

i suppose th focus shoud be the root of violent intention
and not the actual acts themselves. what pushes us to WANT
to use violence to deal with our shit, rather than some
other method.

maybe instead of fighting, everyone should just grab some
legos and build little spaceships and have the legomen kick
each others' butts with legofeet and legolasers and
spaceships. then in the end, we'll see the same thing -
nothing is solved - but at least we'll be able to learn the
lesson safely and plus we'll still have all the plastic
pieces and we can still make more COOL SPACESHIPS!!

freud is quite popular in the us, here in austria (where he
lived up to the nazis) he isn't valued as much. i read his
traumdeutung (dunno in englisch) and it was not convincing.
he seemed to have a somehow altered senses, recognicing only
what fit in his theory (which actually was built afterwards;
so it was no scientific approach methinks)

sex a form of violence, albeit a slightly more
[re]productive one.

decided to start using this word when I've never heard it in

i heard the word avatar years ago.

1 : the incarnation of a Hindu deity (as Vishnu)
2 a : an incarnation in human form b : an embodiment (as of
a concept or philosophy) often in a person
3 : a variant phase or version of a continuing basic entity

sex is somewhat [debatably] violent because it is an intense
physical act by one person on another. whether there is a
harm inherent to its pleasure is also arguable.

we can discuss this like we are all yups with well to do
minds, and try to figure it out, but it doesnt matter at
all, and I dont give a shit because you know its going to
give jupitah a good degree or mark or whatever, but in the
end it still dont change the fact that I dont have 1 billion
dollars, or the car of my dreams in my driveway. fuck the
root of violence. life should never be that complicated or
thought provoking, and if it is for you then - in my own
little way I feel frustrated and disgusted by that as a
human.
