ICBYD is the peak.........

Maybe he'll do something else as good but so far, this
album is the most solid.

It's not really a Q, just a statement really.

It really is amazing.

as it is a compilation, i find it to be solid caus of the
selection of tracks..., cleverly balanced and flowing.
but the most solid album would have to be CtD i think, caus
it's more like an album (even it's an ep)

sawII maybe also the best album he made... but it's too
special to be THE best
btw, it was originaly set to be 4 cds!!! imagine the kantity
of ambient tracks à la sawII that date of this time?!?!

CtD is pretty much perfect, with the exception of maybe
funny little man, and even that one has its charm... I
really really like SAW85-92 though, and ICBYD IS very very
good... The RDJ Album is another one that's pretty much
perfect... RDJ has got a load of excellent albums out that's
for sure!!!

Acrid Avid Jamshred is such a great opening track, I love
the melody that kicks in a few minutes into the track, gets
me everytime

ICBYD is really good... it feels so cohesive. I like the
more laid back style, I miss tracks like The Waxen Pith and
Alberto Balsalm... the crazy shit on Drukqs, I love that
stuff, but I want some material resembling ICBYD...

I've been listening to the RDJ Album a lot today... I forgot
how damn good it is!

i like ventolin (both, taked like an album) more than ICBYD
i think... but i used to like it more

I like some of the mixes from the ventolin ep's, but the
original just gives me a headache

totaly agree, waxen pith is a masterpiece, alongside acrid
avid jam shred and wax the nip
that's one amazing start!!! i could listen to those 3 songs
in repeat for days

I just really like the range of emotions and styles. It
doesn't sound contrived like 'ambient trak', 'hip hop trak',
'hard trak' etc.

Just great trax. CTD is similar, like 'frequencies' it seems
more honest and not just trying too hard.

the first song of the remixes cd is ten times better than
the original i think, that's the only real remix of ventolin
in fact

Acrid Avid Jam Shred is one of his best... and yes, that
melody that comes in in the middle is so damn cool...
totally caught me off guard the first time... :)

I reckon ICBYD is the best 'album'... 'RDJ' is the second
most cohesive but 'Druqks' is the most rewarding

offline JivverDicker from my house on 2002-03-27 23:36 [#00146435]
Points: 12102 Status: Regular

For me Drukqs is too contrived, it really tries to hard to
impress with all the DSP tricks, juxtaposed to the 'simple'
acoustic tracks that don't cut it.

If I listen to the whole thing, I'm left with no real
feeling. I'm not impressed, confused, delighted, dancing on
the ceiling, nothing really.

drukqs impressed me and i'm gonna have to change my mind
again and say ICBYD is his best album. This will change
again soon no doubt : )

I've been really into Start as you mean to go on lately, it
might be one of the first drill n bass tracks ever, at least
the first by rdj

Alberto Balsalm and Come On You Slags are my favorites off
of ICBYD, but I agree with E-man, I think SAW II is the best
one.

i love I Care Because You Do. i really do. It's his best
album, and it's my favourite album.

Steve: Talking of favourites...Benicio Del Toro belongs to
the elite of actors. he is truly amazing. BTW, is he going
to play Che Guevara?

I have no idea, to be honest, your guess is as good as mine.
He seems like he would fit the role nicely, appearance wise.

I like rolling down my windows at a stoplight when playing
ventolin and turn it up really loud....especially if the
people beside you are doing the same thing except with rap
music.

hahahaha Good suggestion, program! I like cruising about
listening to aphex--particularly "Start as You Mean to Go
On" and "Polynomial-C." Ever listen to Aphex without
getting a funny face from the freaks in the next lane?

my fave has to be saw2, its great if you put it on loop and
go to sleep. but the most groundbreaking has to be rdj. when
it came out, was there anything else that sounded as fresh??
now so many people are imitating that style. shocking. but
my favourite by miles ;-)

This is Fact.

It is the highest peak aphex, in fact any electronic music,
has ever reached.

rdj album the most groundbreaking, maybe, but when the R&S
ep's came out i can tell ya there wasn't anything as fresh
and abrasive and innovative and dark and spooky and ... WTF
, LONG LIVE CLASSICS

There is so much emotion on ICBYD... it's the most
emotionally mature album of Aphex Twin I think...

I loved ICBYD when I first got it, but it now seems a little
stale compared to Drukqs, but there are a couple of tracks
on there that would stand the test of time!

Especially Wax the Nip! It is SO SO SO SO beautiful...I
can't believe it hasn't been mentioned before that much.

And I just picked up SAWII today. Gotta wait till Christmas
to hear it though. :-/

I think RDJ had fun making ICBYD. It's a very flowing
album, great peices, great mood, I love it through and
through. It's one of the few albums I can actually say I
enjoy the whole thing.
