after effects. photoshop cs3
so whats the 'point'( get it? point?) of illustrator indesign and audition why are they seperate packages? what do you do with them ?
what can you do in illustrator that you cant in after fx or photoshop?
( i think they should merge photoshop and after effects as one package.) but they are money hungry mothers it seems

I wouldn't want to have AE end photoshop merged. they already work pretty well together imho.

in AFX you have the naf paint plugin which can be used to help create detialed masks ( with colour key) but there is only one level of undo.. There should be a photoshop plugin at least.. They dont merge so people have to purchase more than one prog from them.
im using 5.5

in-design is adobes answer to quark. it does have some neat vector tools, but it is more suitable for dtp/setting up documents for print instead of actual artwork (which is where illustrator excels)
photoshop has weak vector capabilities but is untouchable at rasterised graphics. after effects will never integrate into photoshop as they're both aimed at very different markets.
i'd like photoshop to have more of illustrators features, but they work together so well now that it isn't even an issue anymore.

Maybe the integration between PS and AE is tighter in CS3? I haven't used AE in a while, but I do know what you mean by the constant importing and exporting... but masks can still be made within AE itself :)
AE is a lovely program btw. I only used it for one project whilst at uni, but it was a lot of fun and the end results were really good. Rendering is a cunt though.
