i'm not real enough to endure a 500gb stinker. putting the
lid on, will dampen it to some degree

it took me a while to figure out you were talking about 500
gigabytes and not missing out on playing 500 gigs in the
near future.

and in that case: 160 gigs. down the toilet. save for what
was on my ipod, godbless that i didnt lose my entire music
collection.

If you are going to go the bother of wasting Phobiazero's
money on a thread, at least express yourself in a manner
which the uninitiated might understand.

It's easy to jump to conclusions, yes, and come to some
vague understanding of what has happened... but without any
details, it's hardly gripping or useful stuff.

What is there not to get ???

His girlfriend obviously found all his porn on the computer
and took out the hard drive . She then A . used some sort
of heavy hydralic type mashinery to grind it down to a
powder or B . used some sort of very strong acid to melt it
down to a liquid before she proceded with the flushing down
the toilet bit .

DUH!!!

Full story on my website

I'm bringing it back tomorrow, and trying to figure out
what the fucking I'm going to do. I'm sick of all these
fucking CDRS, I dont want to have to baby sit them all the
time when I clean my room move or whatever.

ANd I'm even more sick of my computers fucking CRASHING ALL
THE TIME when all I want to do is write music. This happens
SOOOOO Much I am truly frustrated, I'm sick to hell with
this fucking hd breaking nonsense. If it's not a harddrive
it's frying a sound card, or drum machine being broken or
whatever.

I hate computers right now GRRRRRR Fuck !!!!!!!!!!!

NEVER buy an external HD. Buy an enclosure and put your own
favorite brand and model of hard drive in it. If you buy a
prefab external hard drive it is never a good drive inside
the shell. IT IS MADE OF STUFF FROM INSIDE A SICK ANIMAL'S
HEAD.

It was a seagate inside when I opened it. I'm really
discouraged because I'm having a lot of troubles getting up
and running to make music.

I fucking hate computers

I dunno, maybe it was a factory second or a reconditioned
unit. I always get either a Seagate or WD, the one with the
highest MTBF in its range, and have no problems. Didn't
twatface also have an external drive fail on him? I'm not
sure exactly why but they're bad news.

The stuff I really want to keep - software installers,
writing, programming, source files for my tracks - I back up
on DVD +RW.

i think harddrives are just fickle beasts. i've got a stack
of dead hds of all brands. in fact, the drives that have
lasted the longest for me were two ibm deskstars, which were
basically the most notoriously bad drives in modern
history.

you just gotta have duplicate backups cause they're all
gonna die, just hopefully not at the same times.

you gotta have dupes adupes adupes.
