[OT] ebay etiquette

I'm new to purchasing on ebay and I have a few questions.
How long does it usually take for a seller to contact you
after you've bought something? Do they contact you to tell
you your item has been dispatched?

I've bought two items in the last two days (components for
my bike) and havn't heard anything from the sellers. I paid
immediately (was this the thing to do?) and sent them
messages asking for details regarding shipping and have
heard nothing back. What's your experiences with this?

like all aspects of life,

some people are just lazy and / or arseholes.

i wouldn't worry. these are common woes.

I usually pay at once and get answers/dispatch messages
about 0-24 hours after... Some people are slouches, though.
It can take ages if they're cunts, like during other methods
of transaction.

Did you pay shipping too or are you asking them if they
shipped everything already?

Some seller don't reply to emails ever, specially chinaman
ebayers, but they ship it, most of times.

give it another day or 2.

always comunicate via the ebay console....dont reply via an
email (your main email) go to the 'my ebay' page and selct
messages and reply from there. then if you have any
problems the ebay admin can see what you have said

you can set up a dispute if you think your being treated
unfairly

post here if you need any help.

I got ripped off on a sweet AFX clock for which I paid $20.
The $20 wasn't a big deal, but I was more upset about not
having an AFX clock.

Just received a reply from one seller..... he's shipping it
today (7-14 days delivery to Oz from Italy).

All my communicatio has been through ebay.

Should you only leave feedback after you receive the goods?
That seems to be the way it should be to me.

Yeah because if you leave positive feedback and then later
you open up the package and there is a hunk of dookie in it,
you're up shit's creek.

The feedback system is really lame, by the way. My friend
just got into a situation where he ordered a poster and it
turned out to be all bent up and creased. My friend left
negative feedback and then the seller turned around and gave
my friend negative feedback just to be a dick. Some people
on that website really do suck.

yeah, it seems to be one big dick-suck. It's unlikely that
anyone with a fair number of sales is going to screw you
over, so the feedback system is a bit redundant at that
stage.
