the wire is meant to be one of the best shows ever. in fact
its so good that people talking about how good it is all the
time has actually put me off watching it. so it might not be
any good, i wouldnt know. but it is meant to be good.

Not on the list: Dexter

Very cool and entertaining.

Other than that, i'd pick deadwood.

I too have heard that The Wire is one of the best American
television shows ever; I've been meaning to download it for
some time now.

I also read that Deadwood is superb. And coming to an end.

but i downloaded the first series and it turned out to be
UTTER CORNY SHIT AND I FUCKING HATE EVERY FUCKING MINUTE OF
IT

I'm watching season 3 of the wire, it's a great show. Season
1 has a slow start but it pays off if you stick to it,
Season 2 is a departure from the 1st and the 3rd is a return
to the 1st.

Oz is ok at least the first seasons.

Oz has always been my favourite H.B.O. show; I used to love
watching it late-night on Ch4 back in the day.

opinion, one of the best TV characters ever.

wouldn't have minded.

I am thoroughly entertained by that show and not afraid to
admit it.

ROME and Deadwood. Probably the 2 greatest television series
ever to get cancelled.
It puzzles me that these shows get shafted yet hat John From
Cincinatti crap stays on.

I think Rome was intended to be more of a mini-series than a
running show, but it was damn good.

Zephyr, actually it was always intended to be a full series.
The first 2 seasons were made with the possibility they
might not get more funding in mind, which is why season 2
ended the way it did. Seasons 3 and 4 were already in the
initial stages of production/writing when the BBC decided it
didnt want to split the bill with HBO.

I liked Rome too. Sopranos of course. Im sure there will be
detractors. Deadwood I could never follow. Seems like the
show you say to people to make them think you are smart. I'm
sure I'm wrong and its a great show. I just don't have the
attention span to get through the choppy diagolgue. So maybe
it is for smart people

What like was Rome? Was it glossy? Was it a bit disturbing
and grotesque?

The only TV drama I've gotten into was the first season of
Heroes. I was worried that the second season would blow
monkeys and lets just say many primates have been satisfied.

I watched the first episode and a half of "Heroes", and
spent most of the time wondering why on earth this was
acclaimed. at all.

weeds went to shit after season 1
heroes went to shit after season 1
lost went to shit after season 1

is 'curb' going fora 7th season? or is the show fin?

i downloaded dexter; heard good things just haven't watched
yet.

If I remember correctly, Heroes season 1 really started
hitting its stride around episode 4 or so. Someone let me
borrow the box set and I couldn't put it down because every
episode ends with some cliff hanger or revelation about a
character.

Carnivàle is probably my favourite and I love Deadwood too;
'tis brilliant. Oz, Six Feet Under, Extras and Curb Your
Euthanasia are also excellent. Entourage, Sopranos, Rome and
Big Love are pretty good too. I have yet to watch The Wire
and newer shows like John From Cincinnati and Tell Me You
Love Me, but I shall download them in teh phuture.

if you like Carnivale you'll probably also like "The Stand"
(stephen king) 4 part miniseries, it has many similarities.
I also liked "American Gothic" but it's a long time ago
since I had seen that

Speaking of Stephen King, have they determined yet if The
Dark Tower is going to be a collection of feature films or
some type of HBO mini series? I know they are making the
thing, but I don't know in what format.
