Why do politicians enforce what you call a nanny state?
Because they think it will win them votes, they won't do
anything unless they think it will win them votes. Therefore
their enforcement of what you call a nanny state comes at
the behest of the public. ie. you!

It's what the people want, so it's pointless blaming the
government for it.
