Do they dance?

Hello. So: they make IDM, but hey! Do they dance themselves
the artists? It's music I know, but if it's so intelligent
and dancable, shouldn't they be having the spastic chicken
legs behind their computers and mixable tables? I have never
been to a concert, but I've seen them on youtube. Afex: no.
Not moving. Autekre: No, looking at screen. Mike P: He bobs
head up and down behing mac-pc. Same with Squarepusher. What
about the rest? My guess is that cylob can dance. Not the
others.

Yeah. Squarepusher can dance with the bass. I give him
credits for that

I think it's inappropriate. It is an ugly spectacle seeing
people dancing to IDM. Techno's bad enough, one need only
think of the appalling images in the Techno Viking video.
But an IDM artist should never dance to his own music, like
a comedian shouldn't laugh at his own jokes. I think an IDM
musician could possibly laugh at their own music once in a
while. And I'd like to see Jim Davidson do spastic, Cygnus
style gurning to a bit of granualized sped up breakbeat.

they have to look dead serious to keep up their 'god-like'
appearance

Can Vlari dance to his own mixes based on other peoples
tracks? Or is that like a comedian laughing to old jokes he
stole from others?

I think it's best if the musician, and the act of dancing,
are seperate. You don't want to be fucking Moby, even
fucking Moby doesn't want to be Moby, I'm sure.

Better to be like Richardjames having an onstage dancer to
deal with the dance interpretation side of the musical
performance, which was an idea he stole off of Howard Jones,
who used to employ some form of onstage gimp chained to his
synth. Something I personally would like to see revived
today.

What's your problem with the Techno Viking? He's great and
he makes me very happy.

But you're a seasoned aesthete. I, on the other hand, have a
very weak stomach.
