How can they drink that shit? It tastes like Barbara Bush's
salty puckered anus. Why do they even make it?

like the people who claim their favorite beer is
budweiser... from a can!

does brew some tasty brews.

You are supposed to have it chilled. Chilled whiskey goes
down smooth and you get drunk before you know it.

not sure how easily youll be able to get your hands on any
of these as most of them are semi-local breweries, but they
are delicious nonetheless and worth checking for anyone you
can get ahold of them:

lagunitas brewery, mendicino ca - big brews and hops are the
name of the game for these guys. lots of flowery but still
heavy brews - their beers avg about 7% abv. reccomend:
imperial red, censored/kronik, any of their limited edition
22 oz bottles.

magic hat brewing co., burlington vt - much lighter but more
varied beers than lagunitas, magic hat has a curiously
unique recipe for each of their beers. reccomend: no. 9
(semi-apricot not-quit-pale ale), circus boy unfiltered
hefeweisen, hocus pocus wheat for warm summer days.

other noteworthy beers which i pick up somewhat regularly
are anchor steam (sf, ca), pyramid apricot-weizen (ca), long
trail ale or double bag (burlington, vt.... can you see a
trend here?)... i could list more, but i think this post
might be getting a bit long.

i think we're talking more about taste than drunkification
factors here, but yes, jim beam does go down easy and get
you trashed in no time. and always chilled or at least over
ice, warm booze = blech.

Yes, most American whiskey is wank. I don't mind bourbon
though (although I'm sure some made from Scottish or Irish
whiskey would be nicer still). I only keep a bottle of
bourbon for making mint juleps.

I like Jack Daniels... as much as a person can "like"
whiskey itself rather than just it's desired effect.

I'm pouring a shot of it now.

Well if you're going for taste in alcoholic beverages, it'd
be hpnotiq.

However, I do like rum and coke very much.

you drink like a 12 year old.

i drink 12 year old scotch. and that is for the desired
taste.

and wolf, thats what we're saying in the whole thread!
american whiskey is awful! try some scotch (or irish whiskey
for that matter) and see that it CAN taste good!

Yes, We Americans know food in Europe is better. There are
billion dollar industries such as fine living tv shows and
magazines reminding us all the time of this fact on a daily
basis.

Fine American Whiskies:
Buffalo Trace
Wild Turkey (particularly rare breed)
Makers Mark

Jim Beam and Jack Daniels are ok too I guess...

Bourbon and cherries are a match made in heaven. Bourbon
and coke with maraschino cherry juice and a few cherries to
garnish is excellent. Also soaking cherries in bourbon is
good for parties.

For Scotch I like Johnny Walker. My in-laws usually have a
bottle of black label on hand for me to mooch.

Canadian I enjoy Yukon Jack, which is really a whiskey
liqueur but better than Windsor imo.

Irish I suppose Jameson.

Good Pennsylvania beer
Weyerbacher Brewery known for fine barley wine aged in bourbon
oak casks

Troegs Mad Elf A seasonal local favorite

Appalachian Brewing Company I particularly enjoy their Jolly Scot
Scottish Ale

Yuengling I really like the Porter and Lord
Chesterfield Ale. The Black & Tan is good and the lager is
so popular in Pennsylvania that if you go to the bar and
just order a "lager" you will with out a doubt be handed a
Yuengling.
